To be filed under the "Well Why The Hell Didn't I Think of That" Category: Prior to the release of Cata, make sure to take all of your 80s, get 25 daily quests completed but NOT turned in until the Cata flag goes up. Once 12am PST rolls around you will have a fat questlog of quests to turn in for a quick XP boost right at the start of things.

This has been posted before, and it would work, except that Wrath Lv80 quests probably won't give as much as Cata Lv80-81 quests, but I suppose it could help some.

You might get about a forth of the way to Lv80.

Remember: Your old BoAs won't help you here (they are actually hurting you as they are weaker than easily-gotten Lv80 blues/purples at Lv80) as well.

Didn't realize it had been posted already, my bad. As for the BoAs, I am ashamed to admit I hadn't even thought about them for the 80s lol.

That and, well, I am not going to rush through just to get to 85.

My girlfriend has been playing on the Beta and she swears the new questlines are one of the best things of the expansion.

I don't want to skip them :)

Getting to 85 sooner, though, means that you will gain more money out of said quests.

The sooner you reach 85 with more quests left to do, is more money you will have when it is all said and done. Now, granted, the difference might only be a couple hundred gold, but still.

Doing the 25 dailies plus handing them in will take a lot more time than getting the same amount of xp while questing in new cata zones.
So unless you're racing to 85 and the 30-60 minutes of time it might save you in cata is crucial to you I wouldn't bother.
And if you're bored enough that you don't know anything else to do in game then I suggest logging off.

Even if you're racing, you're looking at time to turn in those quests vs travel time to the new areas. Someone who is sitting right outside the zone line is going to start new quests a lot sooner than someone in northrend (especially with no more portals in Dalaran), and thus have the advantage there.

Rush to 85 and hang out with the two others in Orgrimmar/Stormwind?

The main reason to rush would be to pull ahead of most people so you can quest without having to fight over kills.

I was under the impression the 1-80 BOAs would work until you dinged 81, but the stat difference between 251/264/277 epics and 200ish blues made it not worth it except for putting them on right before you turn in a quest.

Blizzard said awhile ago that they would not work past 80 and that they stop working as soon as your character dings 80.

I did the whole rush thing with both BC and LK and have decided that I'm actually going to READ the quest text rather than doing the clickyclickyclickyletsgogogo thing this time around. I was astounded at the amount of cool and interesting things I missed by not reading.

I am hearing it from a friend of a friend, so take it with a pinch of salt but word on the street is 25 ICC dailies + 3-4 BRC runs will get you 81.

Probably a good way to avoid Hyjal/Vashir congestion on high pop servers.

Except for the fact that you can't get to Deepholm until you hit 82. :-p So people will still need another level to avoid Vashj'ir and Hyjal.
