Hargin Mundar says: Flood's not so bad. Not as bad as the ones we've had in Ironforge.
Junder Brokk says: Aye, you mean the one you caused?
Hargin Mundar says: You watch your tongue, ya blootered chuff! That was an honest mistake!
Junder Brokk says: You put a floodgate on a channel from the inside and trapped yerself!
Hargin Mundar says: An honest mistake!
Junder Brokk says: An' then you tunneled from the channel straight into a dining hall!
Junder Brokk says: We were findin' carp behind the furunite for weeks!
Hargin Mundar says: Well, at least the ale was safe.

I vaguely remember hearing about another reference to Dwarf Fortress at Bael Modan, with a quest actually called "Dwarf Fortress". I think the troll mage I am leveling should be hitting that quest today. Apparently has something to do with 'fun' for the dwarves...

EDIT: Yes, there is a set of quests for the horde at Bael Modan in the southern Barrens. You get to kill a bunch of dwarves, you meet a goblin thief dressed up as a cheese in the fortress, you run into a dwarf with the surname of "Boatmurdured", and in the end, you destroy their fortress using a wacky super weapon the dwarves themselves built.

All that was missing was a pack of Elekks. For the uninitiated, read http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Boatmurdered/ for a hilariously good time.

If you like that basic storyline, it's a good idea to quest in that area with both factions, since it gives you a view of that scenario from both sides (the destruction, the sneaky goblin's involvement, etc).
