I was wondering some things about "Gold Guides"Follow

#1 Jul 13 2010 at 9:32 AM Rating: Default
Hello!
I was checking some things on the internet a few days ago and I found many sites selling some 'good' gold guides. Personnaly, I have never tried something like this, but I know some people who did, and were disappointed by the result... their guides were just really ******. However, I found that these guides were looking good, and seemed better than what my friends tried in the past. I don't know this very much, so I wanted some of your advices about it! Tell me if they are worth it, if they work or not... if you have tried them and if you loved them! What do they contain? And which is the better if you know more than one...

The guides I found "potentially interesting" were the WoW Schools guide, the Warcraft Millionaire guide and the Massive Gold Blueprint guide.

I have searched some reviews and feedbacks on the internet, but I have not found anything reliable, so I though some of your testimonies would not be ********* :)

Ty all!

They're all pretty much scams. Getting gold is easy.

a) gather and sell -> works best at the beginning of an expansion or for enchants and gems when a new tier is released and everyone needs them.

b) play the auction house -> buy low sell high, buy greens DE them and sell (doesn't really work as well anymore with the DE option in groups

c) do quests, dailies etc -> The tourney for example will actually start adding up quite quickly.

d) do GDKP runs

Making gold can be very situational. Look for a shortage and fill it, just like any other market. During Sunwell I made a ton on leather and drums.

Have one toon with herbalism and mining (sell your goods on the AH), another with enchanting... when not gathering run lowbie instances, d/e the greens/blue and sell the mats. You can also have toons that you farm the rare companion pets with... d/e the greens and sell any viable drops that you get whilst farming for the pet-pets.

I have no input on the guides, but from what I've seen, they should be named, "Get real life money from selling common in-game knowledge." ...i.e., I wouldn't trust any of them. You would do better to ask the forum their in-game gold-making advice, hints, tips or what have you. Good luck.Smiley: grin

If you desperately do want a guide, just torrent them. They're all on there for free.

I downloaded one or two once, just because like you, I was curious to see what they actually said. It was a load of crap. It basically said things like "Grab two collecting professions, farm nodes and put them on the auction house! This gets you money!" and "Loot every mob you see and vendor the grey items!"; basically stuff that should be obvious if your brain is located inside your skull and not your ******.

Exactly. On the off chance the OP isn't advertising his own guides, I also recommend you check out our tradeskills forum. Following the advice there, I've been making over 1k per day for several months. You don't really need a guide, just some consistency.

Yeah, I see¸... that's what I thought. And, thanks for your help, I'll check the links and other forums! :) By the way, which site is good at listing prices and everythings for items on each server or something like this? Does it exists? I've heard about something like this... Thanks

I don't think so, although this site tries to give an average from all the servers that have people submitting data. No idea how accurate it is.

I've actually purchased the Massive Gold Blueprint guide, and it isn't your typical gold guide. The guy who runs it, Jonathan, puts a lot of effort into it and keeps it updated. He's got a lot of interesting ideas that I hadn't thought of before, and he has a forum hosted on the site where he keeps the videos which are the guide (there's no pdf, so you can't torrent it) with all the people who have purchased the guide collaborate on different hot items to go after on the AH and such. It isn't about professions, it's all about playing the AH.

At one time Jonathan had some preview videos up on his site so you could get a rough idea of what he offered in his guide. Not sure why he took them down, but I would say that if you're going to buy a guide, his would be the one to get. I tried Luke's gold guide and it was worthless. It still had tips in it from Vanilla that he hadn't even bothered to take out and like others have mentioned, didn't have any information in it that I couldn't have found for free.

Knowing the market is the key to making lots of $$$.

Grinding dailies, doing GDKPs works too.... but IMO knowing AH is the most important part.

e.g. When u are in a GDKP, a BOE drops, do u know what's the prevailing price of that item? If you do, you could easily BID at a price where others will not push further and then sell it on AH for an easy 1k+ profit.

Also, for farmers, it's always good to 'add value' to your raw materials.
e.g. I used to sell Dragon's Eye (JC daily) for 60g each (AH market rate on my server).
BUT, I was wondering.... WHY do they sell so fast?

So I went to check what are the derivatives of those Dragon Eyes.... and tada! --> That Prismatic +stats gem!
That went for 90g+ on the AH for my server. For a paltry 5 infinite dust (at most 6 or 7g), I can add value to it and earn 20+ more!

The above is just one example. There are cases where the raw material is actually more costly (that's when people use them to level up trade skills), so... do your own research :)
