It was reported before (I think from Calabar) that the CE pets will only be available on newly created toons. Well, this is no longer the case. Enjoy those pets!

Yep. A blue posted about this back in October. I was much relieved. He had first reported that existing characters would not get the new pet, but he later corrected himself in the same post when he asked some questions from those in the know and found out he was wrong.
I’ve not read how new characters will get their pets, but existing characters will get it in the mail. In the first collector’s edition we are given a box we click for a quest. We turn in the box to the NPC and get a choice between three pets. Since there isn’t a choice this time the mail system would work should Blizzard choose that option.
I’m glad to see the news is still being circulated.
