Couple of question about WoW and BC before buyingFollow

#1 Jan 09 2007 at 1:17 PM Rating: Decent
I've been playing SWG almost since it's release and I decided a couple of days ago that it's really time to change game. So I decided to give WoW a go.
Anyway, before I buy I have a couple of questions about it and upcoming expansion...

1. After I choose a class for my char, can I change it later? That was a great thing that I like in SWG which is that if you don't like your class for some reason or get bored with it after some time, you could just switch to something else.

2. What races and classes are most popular? I'm asking this because than I'd go for exact oposite of it (I like to feel different :P).

3. Is ALL the content from Burning Crusade availible only to people who buy it, e.g. I can't choose Draenei or Blood Elves as my race if I don't have BC, or I can't level to 70 without it?

4. Same question as 1. just for Talents.

5. Does someone know a good site with lots of assorted screenies of all races and all classes with equipment of higher levels?

Thanks ahead

no, can't change class or race.

there's a website out there, wowcensus.com I think that has a breakdown. Hunters are pretty popular, healers are not.

Correct. You need the expansion for BE/Draenei and lvl 60+

4. Same question as 1. just for Talents.

you can respec talents as much as you want, it just costs gold to do it.

first time = 1g, then 5g, 10g, 15g, etc up to 50g where it caps. it then gradually decays over time. Also if blizzard makes major changes to your classes talents you get a free respec.

The official site has a lot of pics and such. Otherwise best bet is to just google "Wow Tier 3 armor" or something like that.

Also please read the FAQ in the stickies, should give you some more good info.

no, can't change class or race.

The key here is that you can have multiple characters w/o any problems. Warning , though Altoholism runs rampant among WoW players (<shameless_plug>there's even a guild on Garona to help you with your ... problem. Care to join Altoholics Anonymous, anyone? </shameless_plug>)

I think he was aiming more for the "Can I use the new talents if I don't have TBC" rather than respec'ing.

OP: Yes, you can. That's part of the thing that Blizzard is offering to all of us. In fact, these talents are already available for use. The advantage that xpac owners have is the extra talent points available from 61 - 70 to use more of them.

Edit: Grr... reading comprehension at the end of a long day of work is for nil. Sorry about this, TseTsuo, I goofed and misread the original question. A 1 is not the same as a 3. :P I'll leave the original here to show how much of a fool I made myself look this afternoon. Sheesh.

Yeah, I caught that right after I posted it ... (and was in the process of editing my original post to cover it.)

Mea culpa.

Ah, thanks for help guys.

Just one question which I forgot to ask...

Will BC be available for online purchase and download (without box order;digital download?), or only boxed (physical) version?

To all our dismay, no. No digital distribution for the original or the expansion. Gotta grab a hard copy from the store.

Once you choose a class for a character, it cannot be changed. However, since you can have up to 50 characters per account, you can switch anytime you get bored.

Night Elf Hunters, Undead Rogues. If you want a class that's always in demand for grouping, choose a healer (Priest or Druid) or a Tank (Warrior).

You will need TBC to create either of the two new races, visit their lands, learn jewelcrafting, go to the outlands, progress beyond 300 in skills, or level beyond 60.

The other people responded to this jes' fine.

Like TseTsuo said, the official site is best.

The trial version that can be downloaded from Blizz's site is the full version. In order to activate it you will have to purchase a key from Blizz, or buy the boxed set for the key included with the CDs. I don't know whether Blizz will be selling keys for BC online, but they are selling keys for the regular game and I don't see them changing their policy. There is only one client. Any differences between people who have Trial, normal, or BC accounts is handled at the Blizz server.
