I tried posting this on WoW's Tech Support forums, but they load so freaking slowly, and it takes forever to refresh them.
Anyways, yet again, I keep getting Patcher CRC errors (this happens every other patch), and its been awhile since I played last. My GF has convinced me to give the game another go, and I would like to do just that...
If I could ever get this stupid patcher to work.
I remember the last time I had this, a few months ago, someone told me to do something and it worked like a charm... but for the life of me, I can't remember what. I know I didn't reinstall the game... and I already ran Blizzard's Repair Utility and it claimed it "succesfully repaired World of Warcraft".
Yet, after running the patcher again, it gives me the same bard CRC error on some file named Undercity_somethingrather.adt. Its almost always an .adt file (sometimes a .wmo). I don't understand why Blizzard can't be a little more reliable with their patcher systems, but anyways..
Does anyone know what the remedy for these stupid CRC errors usually is? I can't remember what method I was told to do, and surely they would have stuck it in an FAQ somewhere, as common as this stupid problem is (I see repeated threads about this, none of them answered by Blizz staff and all of its replies are "me too!"). This common of a problem SHOULD have a stickied FAQ about it.
If I recall correctly, it had to do with an OS setting that you temporarily turned on, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was...
I'm running WinXP home, btw.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
