#1 Jan 09 2007 at 10:14 AM Rating: Sub-Default
This is unbearable. Honestly, they need to do something about the maint. downtime. I've never posted on forums till now due to severe boredom. I'm gonna go read books about Narnia. High Five

I cant believe people still cry this much about maintenance. Go take a walk or somethin. Basement dweller, the sunlight isnt all that evil.

Considering what time it is right now maintenance will be over shortly. Im positive you wont die before the game comes back.

a. Check your calendar. If it's Tuesday, then it's maintenence time, and the servers are supposed to be down. If you still feel like ******** and moaning, post in the Tuesday is Maintenence Thread.

Tuesday is Maintenence thread wrote:
1. Yes, your servers will be down until 2pm Eastern (May be earlier depending on when they start). This will happen EVERY Tuesday! (5AM-11AM PST)

2. Yes, continue to post questions/comments (except about FFXI vs WoW).

3. No, even if you're able to log-in you won't be able to play, unless they happen to bring them online earlier than anticipated.

4. No, Do not whine about your servers. <--- Important

5. Yes, maintenance time is an estimate at best. If your servers do not come up at the scheduled time, refer to #4.

6. Yes, the Official WoW Forums (O-boards) will be down during the course of maintenance as well (submitted by:mohenjodari the Mighty)

Euro Maintenance:

At patchdays it goes on until 1100 CEST.

EDIT: Premium Members, go here to download the patch once Alla posts it: http://wow.allakhazam.com/file.html?1

b. Sometimes servers go out for other reasons. If it's a global effect, other posters are aware of the problem and you aren't providing any new information. You can check realm status at the official site - http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/realmstatus/

c. Ranting at Blizz isn't going to help the servers get back to normal any faster. If you want to rant at Blizz someplace where they actually look, post in the O-forums. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/

Mace is a pepper spray you can buy to fend off attackers, works kindof like army teargas

Omfg, you're right. I totally forgot about "Mace, the Anti-Bum", I've been playing the game too long and was thinking of Unstoppable force. Jebus Cripes. I guess I do need to go take a walk.

Hmm, and I thought my sophomore year was bad.

Mutually abusive couple next door. Meth lab two floors above us. Crazy naked guy across the way. That was just the people we knew about, my roommate and I didn't try to meet the neighbors.

I now live about a block from that apartment complex and this one's fine. Before I even went to the college my mom told someone where I was going and she said "whatever you do, don't let him stay in Wimbledon apartments." My mom had no idea why until the college stuck us there that year from housing issues.

Wow thats some crazy stuff. I guess my situation isnt all that bad, but still Im truely scared where i live. The rent is great, but I have had to call the cops before and they showed up 4 hours later, after my car had been keyed, peed on, and nearly broken into.

There won't be any maintenance next Tuesday on release day for TBC.

Translated from CM-speak, that means only 4-5 hours of up-again down-again service before they decide to perform maintenance anyway. :)

My apartments if you look at the online ratings for them apparently have a broken front gate (it's not) loud music at night (about once a month if even, and stops by 11) and crack dealers (never seen). It's in a nice part of town and the only downside is that they're older buildings, but we get a loft and lots of room and a pool view and they're in great repair. I don't get it, maybe the complainers are confused about which complex they're living in.

What scares me about today is the fact that the forums are down. So's the main site.

Does anyone think they are going to be able to handle the infulx of people trying to associate their BC with their account? I don't. In fact I find that the forums get really slow / stop working right around lunch time (12pm-3pm EST) just about every day.

I don't mind the maintenence time, but...

My God, Blizzard...

Their Patching system SUCKS.

How many users is it going to take for them to realize their "file patching" system does NOT work?

When I was FINALLY able to get into their Tech Support forum, I saw NUMEROUS "I can't patch!" posts by LOTS of users.

Their. File. Patching. System. Does. Not. Work. Period.

They NEED a new patching system.

This is just ridiculous. This is like, every freaking patch except for the main patches, when they aren't lazy and release ENTIRE FILES instead of File Segments to be patched. Their Repair program does NOT work, it claims all files are OK, yet their patchers say "BAD CRC!! WE HAVE TO CRASH NOW INSTEAD OF DOWNLOADING THE FILE FROM A MASTER SERVER!!"

Idiots.

If it wasn't for my GF asking me to go back to WoW for her, I would have cancelled my account by now. I have never, EVER seen such an inept dev team such as this. Every Patch has MAJOR problems, half of their users can't even get the patch downloaded, and many who do get lucky with the download, come down with this bad CRC.

Their Solution?

REINSTALL THE GAME!

YAAAY. Becuase of ONE file that is bad, instead of downloading/replacing that ONE file, you want me to reinstall all 6+ GB of it!? Oh yeah, THAT's the way to fix a problem. Ask me to use a chainsaw when a scalpel would have done JUST fine.

[Edit: Oh yeah, I've seen people post on the Tech Support Forum, who have REINSTALLED THE ENTIRE GAME AND STILL GOT THE FREAKING ERROR. So a lesson folks. Reinstalling the game does -not- work in many cases. I have also read posts about people who downloaded the patch again, still does not work.]

How crazy is that? I know i have had the pleasure of re-installing the game 2 times and it is enough to drive a person mad.

I have been having a problem with my internet connection lately, and I prayed to the WoW gods it was not in-game related, its still not fixed yet, and If i have to re-install everything again because something went topsy turvey i will go mad.

But thats just me! :)

I have tried this for months and months and months, and I could not get my man to come back. It would have never of worked, if i would have tried for eternity.

Seriously, after today, I can see why.

Being unable to access their Tech Support for hours on end, being unable to do something simple like patch your game? Spending 5+ hours on patch day just trying to get your game running again?

Its ridiculous.

I never saw, what was the verdict last week(?) week before(?) about the maintenence being done while keeping the servers up?

I haven't heard anything about it stopping entirely, just for this one time during the "OMG BLOOD ELF" rush.
