Hi - I'm a BBC reporter and we're looking to do a piece on WoW for the national BBC TV News.

Part of the piece is about the economy that's sprung up around the game - ie people ebaying gold/characters - the idea that you can spend real money on imaginary items.

I'm looking for a player who buys gold over the web - or hasn't bought gold but doesn't see a problem with it - and would be happy to be interviewed on camera about it. We just need someone who can talk about the motivation to buy rather than grind.

We wouldn't identify your character, and if you prefer we can also make you completely anonymous by blacking you out. It's entirely up to you.

You'll need to be from the UK, be a good talker and an enthusiastic WoW player. If you're not over 18 you'll also need parental permission to do the interview.

Don't reply to this message but email me direct at richard.scott@bbc.co.uk

richard.scott at bbc.co.uk

Thanks
Richard

That post by you, was believable, but this makes you just like those other 10.000 "documentairies" about games.

Yawn....

Talk to customers of H&M and Footlocker instead.

Real money?? You know I haven't seen a real $20 bill in a lifetime. I never see real money anymore, maybe you should do a story about that. I mean every thursday I get a piece of paper from my job that tells me the amount of "money" I made on it, it is directly deposited in my bank, who in turn gives me a piece of paper telling me how much of this so called real money I have in my account. Then I go to the store and use a piece of plastic to buy items, at which point I get a piece of paper from them telling me how much of my "real" money I spent.

So I say we do a story about where all the real money went, I think it's a big conspiracy.

I doubt many people will bother to respond to your second request, if they didn't bother with your first request. Invariably, the "interview" will be conducted by some semi-informed, smug reporter wearing an indulgent smirk plastered on his face. The "interview" will then doubtlessly be reduced to a 10-second sound-bite which will portray the poor gamer in question as some sad little nerd who has no clue about real life. Yup, sounds like fun....

Even if there are any people who are willing, most of the posters here are in the US and so would be difficult to get them to the UK or vice versa. Good luck in trying tho...
