Warlocks Nerfed Hard.Follow

#1 Jan 09 2007 at 3:41 AM Rating: Default
According to live test realms all Warlock DoT damage has been reduced by 30%. In addition, Curse of Agony and Corruption are no longer instant casts (not even by talents). Soul link has also been reduced to 20% damage reduction down from 30%.

The damage reduction I can see and agree with.....but making CoA and corruption have cast time??? You have got to be kidding. DoT's are easily dispelled by instant casts, and they take 30 seconds to do their full damage, so they are easy to heal against as well.

Can't blizzard ever just make minor adjustments to balance things out istead of completely changing the way a class is played? A damage reduction in itself would have sufficed. I swear everytime I start to enjoy a class it gets flipped upside down by changes. Once you start making a time investment it would be nice to know what you are signing up for.

I would like to personally thank everyone on the O-boards for making the second nerf in two weeks possible. Thanks to the combined effort of your actions, Warlocks are back at having 2 completely worthless talent trees.

From a PvP perspective I can understand the changes. But this has an immense impact on our PvE raid viability.

Thanks, whiners, you ruined my class again.
Now we wait for Deathcoil V2.

Yeah, thanks to overly dramatized mass hysteria on the O-Boards the Warlock class gets completely gutted. Damage reduction...fine whatever...BUT CAST TIMES ON DOTS?!?!?! That is the largest load of bs I have ever seen. Watch out Hunters cast times are coming for your arcane and multi shot next <.<

A co-worker of mine a while ago (Over a year I'd say.) who played this game, while I was still in FFXI was telling me about WoW. Back then he said he didn't think Warlocks were good at PvP.

I've been trying to find the info on the cast times too. What I do know is that the talent to make corruption has been removed, and replaced with some mana efficency talent. CoA will also have a cast time, not sure how long though. So you looking at your good ole 2 sec corruption cast, only it's 30% weaker now to boot.

It wasn't just the O-Boards that were whining.

Unfortunately, there's always going to be unhappy people in WoW. As long as one class can beat another, the class that can be defeated by the other will invariably cry Nerf. Smiley: disappointed

Sadly, I am kinda feeling the same way and Warlock isn't even my main. The fact is blizz always has to go and ***** with a classes functionality. Tweaking damage coeficients is one thing, but don't alter someones entire play style and alienate certain trees. Human beings are creatures of habit, and too much change is teh debil I tell ya!

Remember when they took the cast time talent away from arcane explosion, maybe they are doing the same with corruption. Every warlock will have it as instant cast and maybe that will now be the default - they take away the imp corruption talent as it is going to be instant for all. This is what im hoping anyway.

I don't think so bro, because they added casting times to all the curses too. Hopefully, they won't go live with this mess.

where do you all see the cast time change? im loged into test right now and my cast times are the same, only different is the recast on shadowfury which is 20sec instead of 1 min now. i was never full affliction in the first place so it wont hurt much but i sure would miss instant Coruption.

i'll believe it when i see it go live.

as for now, damage reduction is around 10% for coa and corruption. not 30%, not all dots. get your QQing straight.

First of all, the one thread that I read on the test realm forums stated it was a 20% damage reduction to DoTs. I did not read anything about cast times.

Secondly, this is an MMORPG. Classes will always and forever be changing and if you can't deal with that QQ more and /wowquit.

I can't believe some of you posters. Someone calls out a doomsday nerf, with no proof of source and no links to an official statement and y'all are threatening to quit the game or re-roll.

I'm not saying warlocks deserve a nerf or not, but I am simply commenting on the outrageous reaction from posters to something that may or may not be true.

Agreed.

And now, because you hurt my feelings with those harsh words of yours Webjunky, I'm gonna quit WoW. Smiley: cry

I have great respect for the powers that be at Blizzard. They have created a great game and maintained it for two years. Except for their removal of dwarven mages, *shakes fist at Blizzard*, I’ve not been overly upset by any of their changes. I may not agree with said changes, but they have never gone so far as to make a class unplayable. It could happen I suppose, but I’ll only believe it when I see it.

Oh no I'm nerfed! Just when I decided to join the ranks.... now I wont be able to dot up that Tier 1 warrior with 8k armor and 6k life and fear him and start work on the next one while he dies!
I have a 60 warrior, a 30 mage a 40 lock, a 35 hunter and every other class in the 20's plus a 29 twinked out warrior. I decided to work on the hunter and lock after watching them come into felwood at level 50-52 and masacre groups of 3 or more mid 50's mobs while I at 54 had to try to arrow pull single mobs or 2 on 1 mobs to keep from dying, and to top it off they would destroy the group of 3 faster than I could take down my single mob! (thats why you are being nerfed)and forget about questing on the mobs that drop the felcloth if a 60 lock or hunter was there farming.
So for All of you whiners Quit and go back to FFXI and come crawling back 6 months later when you find that the grass is no greener on the other side.
Or better yet play a tank or pally to 60 and then you will really see the light lol just imagine playing a toon that is nearly usless out of a group environment!

Maybe if an entire player base is whining overpowered, you really are overpowered?

However, I don't believe locks were overpowered. I could kill most locks before they escaped stunlock. However if they did escape stunlock they would decimate me, but that's only pre-BC. In BC, since cloak of shadows is a rogue ability instead of talent, I would have had virutally no problem with warlocks at all.

I believe what happened to the lock community is exactly what happened to every other class that gets a mega buff: everyone and their mother rolls so and so class because they heard how "overpowered" they were (hell read above at the new guy that didn't want to roll a lock because it was fun, only because it was overpowered). Consequently, everyone ******* that so and so class was really overpowered, then so and so class gets nerfed into submission, slowly regaining a shell of their former power.

It happens all the time.

To Rogues.
To Warriors.
And now to Warlocks.

Next on the list:
Blood Elf Paladins.

I have a question about this. Im not entirely up on all the lock nerfage and have read some confusing things.

Is it that Corruption and CoA do 30% less base damage, or are they getting 30% less from +spell dmg?

Because, from what ive read, i think its the latter which isnt as bad right? meh.

Not gonna get to excited until I see it negatively effect me.

Remember when people were whining about the hunter agi-nerf pre patch? :P
