Likely?

I have two level 60s. I haven't played either in around a year. I don't wanna go back to them for Burning Crusade. One is naked - I sold all her posessions for gold to spread out among my many alts. The other is clad in greens - he would do me okay in Outland, but he's on a PvP server which I don't wish to play on anymore. That and it would just feel weird to go back to him now. Besides, if I did, I'd eat up the 60-70 content in a month and I'd be back to being bored with the game. So I plan on creating a Blood Elf, because I've never had a Horde character above 30 so it'll be an 80% new experience for me, roughly speaking. This Blood Elf will last me a good five to six months as I get from 1-70. No altitis, no dancing back and forth between characters. I'll be focused, like I was with my first character and when things were so much simpler.

In order to maximize on the "new car smell" I want to get going with this character, I wanna roll a Paladin. It's the closest thing to a new class in the expansion - a BLOOD KNIGHT. But then I wonder...am I gonna get to level 15 and end up in a party with five other paladin in Ragefire Chasm, when groups are forgiving? What about when I get to Shadowfang Keep or Blackfathom Deeps? "Sorry, we already have a tank paladin and healing paladin." "Another BE Pally? Heck no." "Sorry, we have like seventeen BE Pallies in our guild already." "blood elves suk a$$. party ldr, remove this guy from the party or im quitting".

Perhaps I'm just worrying too much, but I'm seriously having trouble deciding whether the price of new, unexperienced content is worth risking plunging head-first into an Azeroth composed of 25% Blood Elf Paladins.

The worst that is apt to happen is that you will find yourself in this situation and delete that character. Admittedly, that isn't as much fun as getting to run through things without restarting; however, the other option is that you choose something else because of a hypothetical problem ... then kick yourself if it doesn't occur. If Blood Knight is what you want to play, be one of the first ... let someone else change their mind. :)

Personally i dont see a problem with doing lvl up instances with 5 paladins

Get in a guild, premade or not, and quest /instance with them. Not everyone can be a paladin and a lot of people understand that and are going to sieze this oppertunity to get gear later on.

Too much of a hybrid class is never a bad thing, my fastest SM runs have been with five Shamen, it's fun playing with people of the same class.

It's not really the class but the immature players that will be attracted to the BE you should be worried about.

When all else fails, you can PVP to get geared up.

I dont see a problem with paladins attempting this, but gear will be a huge problem. /roll with 4 other people on the same item and see how happy you are in the end. Not at all :(

Yes. As you said, it's the closest thing to a new class.

I think you'll be alright as there are still new players (much like myself) that will still be focused on a old class/race combo.

I could be wrong though.

As opposed to the over saturation of the Nelfs? I doubt it, but I do see lots of pally's being created. If there is a lot of them it's because the Night elf people want to see if they have any competition in being the fruitiest race in WoW.

I won't be spending a lot of time on a new character for some time. I'll be gearing up with new content rather than running around with a low level character that will get killed as soon as I step into a contested zone by the Alliance.

Unlikely to be any worse than what hunters and rogues face. Just don't give the class a bad name and you'll be fine.

Not to worry dude. I think alot of horde players are used to somewhat...more exciting..classes. Do not forget, a true paladin is not a tank/dps class. They are slow attacking, crappy dpsing buff/heal bots, and very few people understand this, especially players from the horde, due to the fact that they are not exposed to the class as much as alliance.

In my young paladin days (pre 40) I would read threads saying "paladin is not dps" or "paladin IS a healer endgame) and laugh thinking "no way paladins pwnsauce". Now, I am a healer all the time whenever I use him (Yes, even with buffed tanking abilites), and I have just become one of those "weeded out" players.

My point is, dont worry. The paladin class is not for everyone, and it will very quickly weed people out that are just picking BE's for the looks, and the new class. I guarentee there will be a saturation pre lvl 20, but after that, people are going to want to go back to their fast paced rogues, or numerous combat option warriors etc.. It will all balance out imo so pick what you please, im sure it will work out.

Im gonna role a BE, but Im gonna make a rogue or mage outta it, and save a paladin for summer time =)
