pre-shopping WoW questionsFollow

Hi everyone.

I downloaded trial version to check out if my internet can handle the game.
Well I run around in Elwynn Forest and in Stormwind, the latency was somewhere between 150-350, (green-yellow). So the question is, will I be able to enjoy my play without lagging in battlegrounds and world pvp and will my opponent have a big upperhand if he`ll have lower latency ?
Some player told me something about 1min downtime or some kind of *time, can`t really recall that.

And one more to go, as ussual I play with lowest graphics (don`t really care about it...), I have 1100mhz CPU, 384mb ram, gforce2mx 64mb. So will I experience serious laggind while raiding ? (for now I haven`t ever experienced laggind in wow, and I have played it for some time...)

Thank You.

P.S. maybe you know some outstanding pvp videos, in good quality ?

you are going to need a heckuva lot more RAM than that!

Your system is barely above the minimum system requirements in everything but RAM, where you are below minimum (512 Meg is the minimum requirement). You are using a very slightly better minimum graphic card (64Meg instead of 32Meg) and a slightly better than minimum motherboard/CPU (1.1GHz instead of 800MHz).

Because of this, I'm surprised that you aren't complaining about lag during normal play, much less asking whether you will experience lag during raids. The answer is "Yes, you will experience major lag at most times." However, you may not notice any lag at all, because slow response is what you are used to. if you haven't played on a modern system, then slow is normal. Would raiding be slower than what is normal to you? Maybe a little, but going from really bad to slightly worse than really bad might be below the detection threshold.

bgredsox said "get more ram". Yes, that's a first step. My suggestion is to upgrade your entire system. If the motherboard, video card, and ram are dated, the rest of your equipment probably is, too. It's time to start saving for a major refit.

Yeesh! You're running on the minimum of the minimumest. I would definitely suggest you upgrade your video card and RAM. I use a GeForce 5500FX, widely regarded as one of the most horrible and inefficient post-2003 video cards ever released, and I can still run WoW at 1280x1024 with all sliders at max. The only things I can't mess with are anti-aliasing and anitroscopic filtering, plus I keep full-screen glow off. I do have a decent amount of RAM - one gig, which helps A LOT in Ironforge and I expect in the BC areas during the initial zerg.

Aside from that, though, my game looks great. I can't imagine how smooth a person with an Nvidia 8800GTX can run WoW...man, one day...one day...

I run the game with a constant 800ms latency, that jumps from time to time into the high Ks, 12K was my worst before I disconnect.

At 800ms I get my butt handed to me in almost any even match, since I play a rogue and stunlocks are pretty much impossible in that setup.

But PvE is good, group PvP is not bad (I use myself as expendable fodder, usually sapping a healer and trying to stunlock a hunter), and I can still play the game and enjoy myself. I just resign myself to losing PvP encounters, and am pleasantly surprised by the outcome if I do manage to win.

150-350 ms would be heaven for me.

If you have a hunter or a caster, latency would be bothersome, but not as deadly as it is for a melee character. One of my RL friends is a Hunter, he took apart enemy players 7 levels higher with a latency that's identical to mine.
