Calling all Scholars: Downrate gold sellers!Follow

Lately, we've had some gold sellers spamming the forums. They've been reported to the Feedback forum, but we have to do our job as well.



Three people is not enough to get them to sub-default. If we want them to know they aren't welcome here, please help us get rid of them. The faster they go sub-default, the less likely they are to return.

I downrate them as I come across them.

I downrate every gold seller I see. Right before I ban them. Just for overkill.

Just FYI the "they will be less likely to return" bit is futile. They are like cockroaches, for everyone you kill 2 more will replace it. Don't think that saying is specifically about cockroaches, iirc, but you get the idea.

Best you can do is nuke it so it goes sub as fast as possible. But they will always come back.

But the individual posts still get rated below the filter, RPZip.

I rate them down whenever I come across them. Usually. Sometimes I just let the bamhammer get them if they've already been reported.

Also dont post in the threads showing your oposition, we all know everyone here is against it, you dont have to post in the thread bumping their spam to the top.

So please, just rate-down and move on.

I do it everytime I see one but I don't think my button works.

Unfortunately, a lot of it, if it indeed is coming from China, is reaching us through proxies. Also, it's not too safe to just blanket ban anything, considering a few specific IPs we've banned in the past have turned out to be from public libraries and the like where multiple different people were posting and only one was a problem poster. (The latter example is usually more an issue of disruptive behavior, but the point remains.)

:) Yes, I downrate the gold sellers and power leveling threads too.

I always rate down goldsellers, what I think is really funny is people who bump the posts to tell off a bot.
