World PVP - a first for me in a PVE worldFollow

Last night, I experienced something in game that was totally new to me. Being on a PVE server (Llane), there had been a few times where you would see some world pvp. The occasional level 20 horde attacking in Westfall being backed up by 1 or 2 tier 2 or 3 rogues was seen once in a while. Even a group of 4-5 making a weak attempt at attacking Stormwind.

But last night, just before I logged off, I saw in general chat (or was in trade window) that Darn was under attack by Horde and they needed help. A lot of Allies responded with the usual who cares, it's only Darn but I decided to go have a look. With my mage, it was easy to travel (gotta love teleports!) and I offered a free portal to whoever wanted to join. 2 others responded quickly enough and off we went. At the doors of Darn, we pushed back 10 Horde and I thought to myself, not really worth my time again but then we pursued the Horde to Dolanaar (might have name wrong). Only about 7-8 of us went and there we were faced with 20 Horde. This became a great fight as more Alliance came to help. The fight lasted for over 1 hour until Horde decided to attack Darn again as most alliance had left the battle.

However, as they were approaching, the Alliance stood up, regrouped and sent the Horde running. They could not even get to the gates of Darn. I left after this encounter hearing that Westfall was now under attack, knowing full well that this was not their last attack of the night and that World PVP would now be a part of my WoW experience.

Bring on the attacks, I will defend! If you make this mage angry, I will bring it to your city.

Even in a carebear world, if you want war, you can find it. And that is just the way I like it!

The Horde are kind of lazy on my server. The only cool thing they've ever done was assemble a hundred undead to invade stormwind where they polluted the rivers.

I can only hope this will last a while. Has anybody else seen world PVP increasing? I know this is not the best way to gain honnor but it's a nice disctraction for fun.

Yeah, it's a real bummer. I was leveling a warrior alt this weekend - came back to Crossroads to give Mankrik the bad news about his wife, and MANKRIK WAS DEAD.

/sob

I hate world pvp.

How odd. The horde attacked Darn on the Tanaris server last night as well. I like world PvP it's fun. It gave me somethin to do while waiting on the BG queue's.

Go go raiders.

I have no idea how/if I'm going to be able to level my 3 60s that arent on a PvP server.

Everytime i go play one i get bummed its not a PvP server, which is generally ok since all there is to do is PvE and BG.

But with leveling? Bah. Maybe I can play one when my main gets camped or something lol.

This has been happening a lot on Sentinels lately also. There's always 1 or 2 that show up in places like Westfall or Auberdine, but lately they have been launching massive attacks on Astranaar, and given the number of bodies I saw in Darnassus it looked like they tried to raid it. Sometimes we will get in and help out and sometimes it's just annoying.

Just like there are some who think PvP is the only way, there are some of us who don't like it. I don't mind an occasional fight but a bunch of level ??'s ganging up on and killing lowbies is a bit of a puzzle to me. How does that make you feel powerful? It looked like massive slaughter in Astranaar last night, so we just bugged out, did a couple of quests and then went fishing.

While I do think there should be some conflict, particularly since we are on a RP server (not that anyone roleplays) I think it should be more controlled. Having level 40-something sentinels in Astranaar doesn't help, they barely make a dent. And if they are killing quest NPCs - not ok.

about a week ago on my alt on a pvp server (blackwing lair), the alliance attacked ogrimmar with at least 100 60's..then killed jin and almost made it to thrall even. coolest thing i've seen in awhile.

Hopefully when BC arrives, all the borde horde will take a hike to outlands giving all this a break.

LOL - I LOVE world PvP when it happens. It's a great break from the usual. The Horde on Uldum seem to have a fixation on Astranaar, which is a real pain for high level allies to get to, but every now and then there's a great pitched battle in UC or in Elwynn. Now with no DK's, attacking towns is penalty free.
