Last night, I experienced something in game that was totally new to me. Being on a PVE server (Llane), there had been a few times where you would see some world pvp. The occasional level 20 horde attacking in Westfall being backed up by 1 or 2 tier 2 or 3 rogues was seen once in a while. Even a group of 4-5 making a weak attempt at attacking Stormwind.
But last night, just before I logged off, I saw in general chat (or was in trade window) that Darn was under attack by Horde and they needed help. A lot of Allies responded with the usual who cares, it's only Darn but I decided to go have a look. With my mage, it was easy to travel (gotta love teleports!) and I offered a free portal to whoever wanted to join. 2 others responded quickly enough and off we went. At the doors of Darn, we pushed back 10 Horde and I thought to myself, not really worth my time again but then we pursued the Horde to Dolanaar (might have name wrong). Only about 7-8 of us went and there we were faced with 20 Horde. This became a great fight as more Alliance came to help. The fight lasted for over 1 hour until Horde decided to attack Darn again as most alliance had left the battle.
However, as they were approaching, the Alliance stood up, regrouped and sent the Horde running. They could not even get to the gates of Darn. I left after this encounter hearing that Westfall was now under attack, knowing full well that this was not their last attack of the night and that World PVP would now be a part of my WoW experience.
Bring on the attacks, I will defend! If you make this mage angry, I will bring it to your city.
Even in a carebear world, if you want war, you can find it. And that is just the way I like it!
