I’m looking for a helm with a light on top. I’m dressing my paladin as a miner and I think such a helm would work better for him than his current goggles. Unfortunately, thus far I’ve only found three such helms.
1) Goblin Mining Helmet – A BoP goblin only engineering helm
2) Expert Goldminer's Helmet – Possible blue drop from a rare mob in Uldaman
3) Miner's Hat of the Deep – Random blue drop from Uldaman
My paladin is an engineer, but he’s gnomish, not goblin. I find it strange that such a basic item should be restricted to goblin engineering, but there you have it. The two helms from Uldaman are BoE so I’m watching the AH, but they seem to be rare and since they are blue I expect expensive. I’ve also started farming the instance, but considering my luck with pet drops I’m not holding my breath.
Does anyone know of any other helms with a light source attached?

The 2nd one id say go for... it looks better.... and according to allak it says it has a 7% drop rate... im guessing you could farm uldaman for it.

If I don't remember wrong now (and as long Blizzard haven't changed it) there's a quest early in Hellfire Peninsula that let you choose between a mining pick, a lantern, and a mining helmet. Quite a fun little quest-series. :) It's on the horde side though >_<

I did some more reading about this drop. I didn’t realize it, but the mob spawns outside the instance. And he spawns in the back of the mines, so he’s less likely to be killed by those working their way to the instance. I found him this morning, but he dropped the boots. Still, I think your right. I should be able to farm him. To that end I found a safe spot and parked my level 60 NE hunter there. With the 1000 armor he gets from training and what armor percentage he gets from me, his little piggy pet can take quite the beating.

I have three blood elf names set aside. I expect one of them will have mining and gemcrafting. I’ll try to look this quest up and make note of it when I head back to the horde side. Thanks.

You'd be surprised at the picture this put into my mind - I imagined a Paladin rushing out of a mins, shouting "NO TAKE CANDLE!".

Hahaa.. I can just imagine that.
The Goblin Mining Helmet is learned at 205 engineering, my Shaman wore hers for the longest(+15 stamina is quite nice-still carry it around for the +5 to mining). It was not exclusive to Goblin engineering when I learned it, I am pretty certain.
And yes, I did run around quite frequently yelling "you take no candle!"

I was actually thinking of a bubble/hearthing paladin in one of the mines in Elwynn saying "GOT YOUR CANDLE!"
