I have been letting my son play a toon on my account for awhile now, and was thinking how much funner it would be if we could play together. So, I am building a WoW capable computer for him to play one that will sit next to mine.
Of course it won't be to good, we cant have the kid showing up the old man now can we.

Any way, my question is this. When the new TBC comes out will it be an expansion only, meaning a new account can not be created by purchasing the TBC?

In other words to get my son up and rolling, will I need to by an old version of the game and then upgrade to TBC, or can I just by two copies of TBC, one to upgrade my account, and one to start his.

you will need to buy the original WoW CDs for the second account and TBCx2. one for your existing account and one for the new one....

Yep, you'll need two existing account to upgrade to TBC which means you're going to need another of the original license keys (another copy of WoW). If you have both account in the same name you will have the ability to pay to have a toon transferred between them (if he already has a toon he doesn't want to lose, etc.)

The good news though is that the original WoW game I've seen as low as $25, and it comes with the first month, so it's not that much more than that first monthly fee would have cost anyways...

Yah, wally world has them for 19.99 here. I guess I can go and get the old disc right away then, and get him rolling. He has no idea that I am doing this yet, so I think he will be fairly excited by it. It's nice to be the good guy every now and then, so many times as a parent you have to be the bad guy, I relish these oportunities.
