gnome warrior or dwarf hunter?Follow

#1 Jan 05 2007 at 12:40 PM Rating: Decent
HI I'm new to this site and i was wondering if i should be a gnome warrior or a dwarf hunter. what do you think would be a good choice. I really like soloing so i was thinking the warrior because Ive heard they have lots of hit points. I also like to use guns, and i heard that warriors can use them. At one time i was thinking about being a gnome warlock but i didn't think they could use guns and they i to collect those soul-shards things, which sounds really hard. I am going to be a engineer and a mininer for my professions so that i can make ammo and guns. Any help on choosing would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Personally Im a Dwarf Hunter and have a reasonably heavy hittin gun ... being only lvl 20 I asume as I go up in lvl the guns will get bigger... on average at the mo Im getting around 38 - 45 hit points on lvl 30 beast's..

I have also heard that the warrior dont get as many hit points with a gun as to what the hunter get's ... but I could stand to be corrected on this..

Just my 2 cents worth

Well domarias let me help you :)

Warrior
- Good amount of Hp/Armour (Your basicly a tank if you go into raiding at higher lvls)
- Warriors CAN spec to do DPS (which is good if you like to kill kill , without really caring about your health)
- Warriors can use any weapon in the game (other than wands) and can wear any armour type (hence why they're tanks)
- Grouping should be easy for you , cuz ppl like tanks
- Can use Guns but doesn't have the ranged abilites that a hunter has

Hunter
- Good Ranged DPS dealer
- Many Different kinds of Pets for you to tame
- Can wear Leather (up to lvl 40 which they can learn "mail")
- Good PvP Class
- Can melee but few abilites , unlike the Warrior which is all melee

Wow Wiki is helpful

Anyways I hope I've helped , at least alittle.

That just makes you a bad hunter.

indeed, that would earn quick kick from any raid if you kept doing that, things like that should never happen except maybe once a fight if you have threat mitigation (like vanish/feint on rogues)...speaking raid-wise here

to op, you want to be faceup in the action or dealing damage from the distance? pick one and you'll answer your question.

I would take dwarf hunter if i was you. Sure they arent melee, but they are good in battlegrounds, they got pets that can tank like warriors even if they are not as strong as one. Plus you do alot of damage with ranged attacks and you **** off people easily.

Go for a hunter. he has a pet with him for better soloing

Dwarf hunters has a +5 to gun skill as a racial ability. They are a primary ranged class with loads of ranged attacks.
Warriors has none.

I think you should choose a Hunter. You write like you really like guns so roll a hunter and go out and get some shooting!

Hiya everyone thatnks for the replies. I think i will go with the hunter because i really do like to use guns. I was wondering if a dwarf is also good at engineering? Is the gnomes 15+ skill to engeneering really a big deal or is it nothering really? Also wat are some good pet recomendations and gun and ammo recomendations?

Thanks

well if you go a gnome you cant go a hunter but +15 engi doesnt really do much in my eyes but keep it you can make a few good guns for yourself but on to pets if you want your pet to tank and you to not take agro then go get a bear but if you want your pet to do damage get a cat/lion/tiger.

and GL mate =)

(I apologize for the wall of text, at least it is all helpful.
From the Allakhazam Class Pages:

Quote:
Warriors are the melee-centered class. These characters are tough as nails and masters of weaponry and tactics. The special abilities of the Warrior are naturally combat-oriented. The Warrior is the ultimate toe-to-toe fighter with the most options available to him. Unlike other Warriors you might have played in other games, the Warrior of World of Warcraft has many different options and abilities to use during combat.

Strengths:
# Able to equip all armor and almost all weapons
# Takes the most damage before becoming incapacitated
# Great close range melee skills
# Lots of equipment options
# Slaughter monsters

Weaknesses:
# No healing abilities, relies on food or other players to heal
# Very gear dependent class

Quote:
Stalkers of the wild, hunters rove the land in search of prey. Skilled trackers and ever vigilant, they attack with gun and bow, while sending their animal companion to keep their adversaries at bay. If the hunter weren't fearsome enough alone, having a tiger or bear assail you to boot is enough for other members of the world to respect the power of a hunter.

Hunters are a class that is known for its ease in soloing and general lack of skills to bring to a group, however that isn't entirely fair. Many hunters are loners, who have figured out how to work by themselves, and are not always exposed to the rigors of party combat until much later in their career.

Hunters are capable in close quarters, with many weapon proficiencies and wearing moderately heavy armor, but their strength lies in their ranged skills. Because of this, their "pet", a beast that they tame out of the wild to fight alongside them, provides a distraction for the hunter to maintain range. Some hunters have great reliance on their pets, as a tiger's claws are still rather sharp.

In instance groups, hunters will typically fill a damage-dealing role, although the good ones will also provide decent utility. Hunters are good "safe" damage on raids, as they are generally not exposed to opponents' dangers from afar and are not nearly as limited by mana as a mage. Hunter PvP roles vary greatly, but a skilled hunter often uses their tracking skills and lies in wait to surprise opponents.

Strengths:

* Can tame nearly any beast in the world to join their hunt
* Highly-skilled at ranged combat, making it hard to reach or escape a hunter
* Very self-sufficient, and often capable of fighting difficult world elites alone
* Very wide array of available equipment

Drawbacks:

* Cannot use ranged attacks within 8 yards of their target
* Loses considerable inventory space to carry ammunition and food for pet
* Highly-maligned reputation
* Lack of a clear group role

I hope this helped, GL on your adventures in Azeroth :).
