How is BG Honor is Calculated?Follow

#1 Jan 05 2007 at 12:41 PM Rating: Decent
There may be a a thread already for this...and I may have missed it..But....

How is BG Honor points calculated?

When I'm battling...I get more HK points than times I've actually killed some one.... I've gotten 100+ HK points before when I know damn well that I didn't kill 100+ people. Is it based on Damage? Being a mage should I go for AoE spells in groups rather than singling people out to get more damage points? When in AV and there are NPC's to kill...do you get HK points for taking them out as well? How much of a bonus do you get when your side actually wins the Battle? Is it a percentage or a Flat amount?

I apologize if this is very clearly posted on another area I just haven't found yet....and if that is the case a link to that thread would be great!

Thanks in advance for all the respond! ;-)

PvP ranking adds to the HK point. The higher the ranking, the more points per kill you get.

That's basically it.

Also if you are a much higher/lower level than the person you kill, the honor you gain is very different.

There are three things that need to happen for you to get and HK.

First you must do damage to a player character. NPCS do not give HKs.

Second you must live longer than the person you did the damage to.

And third you must be with in range of them when they die (similiar to the range for getting looting rights)

Any player character that you do damage to and dies before you do will result in an honorable kill. You do not have to actually do the killing, just do damage to them. So, yes, if you are a mage then AoE's are deffinatley going to up your HK count, but only if you out live the people you damage, that can sometimes be tricky for a mage.

You also get bonus honor for certain goals in the BGs. Each BG is different so I won't go into great detail, but an example would be so many points for capping a resource in AB or a flag capture in WSG, control of a graveyard or Tower at battle's end in AV, ect.

If you have the Combat text screen open during a BG you can see exactly how much honor you get for each kill. It varies quite a bit. You can also see honor bonuses for capping towers etc in real time with the combat tab open.

If your in a group and you just help kill someone that gets HK, so thats what I do when I wanna boost my rank. I just run round and attack everythin in sight. My pet helps too.

But you can't change your PvP ranking anymore. That mean people who only picked up the game recently or haven't done any PvP until recently are forever going to be worth chicken feed to kill?

So does the entire Team get the Honor points, or just the group of who captured it, or just the individual who capt'ed?

Everybody gets honor, I've been in the other base and gotten honor for the cap.

Just had to update this post, since most, if not all the response's were prior to 2.0

You don't need to do dmg to them, as long as your in range of a players death, u get the HK.

Best to stick to single targeting down oppenents than aoe. Being a mage, CC can be a HUGE benefit to the assaulting team (AB) or protecting your flag carrier (WSG). AV is like PvE but with the horde in the same "instance".

This doesn't exist anymore since 2.0 and not having a ranking system. All opponents are worth the same amount, with equal diminishing returns. 1st time 10 honor, kill 'em again 9 honor and so on.

Because you are in the vicinity of the dead opponent. If you heal your warrior and he takes out the opponent, you will be close enough to get what ever kills he gets and anyone else around you. So at the end of the BG, casters should have lots of HK's, since there near the battle. This is why you see more and more defense happening in AV's, because they can sit there in a large group and farm HK's.

Personally I like the revamped pvp honor, I just would like to see more honor for doing the quests in AV like getting the supplies from the mine, no honor just rep. There should be some honor in that, same with handing in armor scraps, should get like 1 - 5 honor or something, not just rep.
