Just had to update this post, since most, if not all the response's were prior to 2.0

First you must do damage to a player character.
You don't need to do dmg to them, as long as your in range of a players death, u get the HK.

So, yes, if you are a mage then AoE's are deffinatley going to up your HK count, but only if you out live the people you damage, that can sometimes be tricky for a mage.
Best to stick to single targeting down oppenents than aoe. Being a mage, CC can be a HUGE benefit to the assaulting team (AB) or protecting your flag carrier (WSG). AV is like PvE but with the horde in the same "instance".

PvP ranking adds to the HK point. The higher the ranking, the more points per kill you get.
This doesn't exist anymore since 2.0 and not having a ranking system. All opponents are worth the same amount, with equal diminishing returns. 1st time 10 honor, kill 'em again 9 honor and so on.

You also get honour for healing other players, don't you? how does that work?
Because you are in the vicinity of the dead opponent. If you heal your warrior and he takes out the opponent, you will be close enough to get what ever kills he gets and anyone else around you. So at the end of the BG, casters should have lots of HK's, since there near the battle. This is why you see more and more defense happening in AV's, because they can sit there in a large group and farm HK's.
Personally I like the revamped pvp honor, I just would like to see more honor for doing the quests in AV like getting the supplies from the mine, no honor just rep. There should be some honor in that, same with handing in armor scraps, should get like 1 - 5 honor or something, not just rep.
