I'm a total WoW noob but I must ask this. I was wondering if it is possible to change the name of your account and/or the name of your character in WoW. Thanks

You can't change your account name, just password. To change a character name you need to address GM's. Although it is unlikely they'll do it without a good reason. You could try saying that you didn't realize that your name insults the mothers of the Swahili player base.

Another trick for changing a character name is if you transfer to another server. If your character's name is already taken, then you get to choose a new one. So if you want to change but your character's name is available, you create a character with the same name on the server before transferring and you get to choose a new one.
