Time to spare and a high level alt? Earn some quick gold!Follow

Hi,

This is something that I've started doing recently to get some money for my low level alt to buy a mount - I've found it was a very effective way to make some gold so I thought I'd share it.

However, this only really works if you have a high level alt, or if you are starting an new character and can leave your high level character in one place for a bit, level 60 is best, but anything over 55 should do.

Go to Temple of Zin-Malor in Asharza, it's the one in the middle of the Ruins of Eldarath. Once there, stand in the entrance way - if you're a high enough level you won't aggro anything (which is why I recommend level 60). If you are a hunter you can simply set your mini-map to view humanoids, any other class you need to create a 'target' macro.

Set your macro to target 'General Fangferror'. This guy is a rare mob, and he has a 25% chance of dropping a blue sword called 'Joonho's Mercy'. I've sold them for up to £40 on the AH and he has also dropped a blue mace which I sold for £50.

If you camp on that spot for a few weeks you'll be sure to get a few swords - I got about 3 in one week. Try to log on at obscure times, I found first thing in the morning to be quite effective - you don't have to be on long, just go and kill him (he appears on the top floor of the temple) and log off.

Once you've got a few swords and other drops go to the AH and sell them, or post them to an alt. Easy!

I found a crimson whelp once.

You got lucky, as I hear that it's an extremely rare drop metaljeff.

I ended up keeping mine...

It's tough to say whether or not it will sell, being a vanity item and not having any real use.

I purposely went looking for it just to keep it. It was on my hunter and for some reason I wanted a 'second' pet. I farmed whelps in the wetlands for an entire levels worth of exp (I think I was 27 at the time).

I've heard from other people that farmed whelps there for an entire TEN levels and still came out empty handed. Rare indeed.

edit: Thanks for the tip OP. Rate up fo j00!

Yup, I gained several levels on my mage just killing those pesky whelps, but no pet for me :(

I farmed for the green one when I was leveling my hunter in the Swamp. Had intended on a long process, instead an hour and half later I had an egg, a bunch of skins and a bunch of money from drops.

Personally if I need money I just run some instances on my hunter get some drops, vendor the greys and the greens I don't think will sell and put some stuff up on the AH.

Whether you could actually sell this thing for the type of gold mentioned by OP depends on the age of your server I would guess.

However, if you have the ability to DE that sword, it yields a shard which is much more valuable than the sword itself (on my server anyway).

Ah, so that's where it drops! I've seen it around (Very high-pop server for me) and even saw it with +15Agi on a level 60..

Now for my story:
Since I'm normally an unlucky swine, I think that the gods of WoW smiled at me through the clouds one night. I was off to farm Crusader Formula, I've tried before for a few hours, came away empty handed, only ever had two greens from them. I get there and think 'Oh.. craptastical Bambi [I use words like that, even in my..' There's about 8(!) other people there. I think '***** it, it's worth a try.'

So, I pick a spot up at the top, shoot up a Seal of Command, and start spamming Judgement (Targets the nearest enemy) One spawns. BAM - I tagged it. 8 other people slap it to deathj, I loot, knowing it wouldn'#t drop, and whoosh! My stomach turned as I saw it. I'd got the formula, from my first kill, on one of the most cramped nights I've ever spent in a tower.

I eventually sold it for a nice 275gold.

I've been there for a further 18 hours since that night. Not seen a green since.

Sorry if I fat-fingered any words, I got my finger stuck in an electric sander at school and am now missing a nail and half a centimeter of flesh, and now have an inch extra of Cotton wool and masking tape to hold it in place! Stupid bubble wouldn't work - buff Pally's please :/

PS: Nice site - hopefully it's not a scam, but I'm curious due to your name.

I've killed this guy a few times, only gotten the sword once(sold for about 15g-I tried higher, took awhile).

In fact, when I am really bored(and I've done this for months, even before my first 60 hit 60) I hunt Rare Mobs. Yep. I clicked on that link over there that says Rare Mobs, rearranged them by zone, and wrote the info in a notebook(by continent, zone, coords and if they drop anything special). It is rather fun-I see myself as sort of a "bounty hunter" or "big game hunter". There are quite a few of them that drop some good items. =) And it beats grinding the same thing over and over and I love the travel!
