I'm really new to the game, I'm still in my trial month. As I travel from town to town I see these huge horde players come in and just swat the alliance moutaineers like they're flies. Just tonight I was in Theselmar and this Tauren was killing the mountaineers left and right while we all watched (I'm a lvl 19 and was advised by the few high ranking members there not to attack so he wouldn't obliterate me).

Do we have characters that raid horde towns and wreak havoc? I'm wondering, will I ever get my dwarf hunter to such a level where I'll be able to do that myself? Not that I want to, but I'm wondering if we have the same power that they do.

Also, all their lvls are shown as ??. When can I find out what their lvl is?

TIA!

Those guys are players too and eventually you can go and raid their towns too if you're high lvl enough and you have enough skill. The ?? means that they are simply too high lvl for you to know what lvl they are and you should stay away from them. When you get closer to their lvl you will get to see what lvl they were.

Yeah, ?? means they are 10 levels or more above you.

I thought it was 8 levels?

Pretty sure it's 10, at level 50 I still found 60's to be ??, at level 51 they were not. It may change as you level though, many things in this game seem to.

edit: spelling

Its also server dependent, some servers have lopsided horde/alliance ratios and some servers have more people willing to go on world PvP raids. Matter of the people playing on the server rather than a distinct faction characteristic.

the guy was probably on his way to the badlands to get the flight path. killing guards gives now honour... he was probably bored.

Ah, that's good to know that we have players on our side that are strong enough to do what they do. It's so annoying, everytime they kill me they either laugh or spit on me. /sigh LOL Oh well.

they can only kill you if you attack them first in 1-20 areas.

Both horde and alliance have the power to raid each others areas, if your on a pve server and you aren't flagged for pvp no player can attack you but opposing guards can.

I must be on a PVE server then b/c the flag only appears when I'm in places like Redridge or the Wetlands. I'm sure there are other places b/c that's about as far as I've ventured yet. When I'm in Alliance towns the horde won't attack me, thank God. LOL

If you auto flag in Redridge your in a PVP server meaning you automatically flag for PVP outsode of starter areas.

Hord aint stronger than us lol:P i guess since he where in westfall or whereever he would been level 60;)

only problem is that most under 13 age pepole choose allaince to be the ^good^ once.

And of course in allaince bg no one heals the others! (exept av and prmdes)

so if you realy wanna be smart roll a healer!

Oh, ok, that makes sense now. I was playing before and another person that's the same level as me was flagged in our starter area and I wasn't. Is he set up differently then? Sorry, these must be WoW 101 questions, but like I said earlier, I'm still in my trial period so I'm still learning.

This probably means he attacked a horde within the area

Yeah jackmorr is rigth, maybe the guy killed a horde, or attacked him and got killed or he just typed /pvp but i ain't sure if it works in starter areas in pvp servers..

well horde are built for pvp. they have the racial traits that are made for pvp such as will of the forsaken. but alliance are pretty much built for PvE raids and such. MC and high level raids are easier for alliance because of racial traits. It all really depends on the player tho. im a 48 warlock on alliance and i can pretty much kill anyone from 46-52 if i do it right. things like gear and enchants also come into play. I have pretty much all the gear for locks from ZF and some from mara and im also a 265 enchanter which makes it better. so alot of factors come into play. And when bc comes out i guess it will sort of even out since we get shammy and they get pallys but really the question of are they stronger than us is depending on the player.

Okay, When you're in Alliance territory, you aren't automatically flagged. When you go into Contested, or Horde Territory, you are. Also, once you step into that territory, you are flagged for 15 minutes after you leave. So, say you're in Westfall, and you wander into Duskwood- You're now flagged. If you return to Westfall, you will keep that flag for 15 minutes. That prevents people from just running from a fight.

You'll come to hate it when you're at the level to do Uldaman. =( it's connected to Loch Modan, which is Alliance territory, and Horde likes to chase Alliance around in there.
