Above "Main WoW forum...". Is that new?
#2 Jan 03 2007 at 12:17 PM Rating: Good
I don't remember it, was thinking the same thing myself.
#3 Jan 03 2007 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent
Wasn't there before today. Already clicked it 3 times accidentally.

If it’s not new then its position on the menu is at least new. I keep clicking on the search option when I’m trying to reach this forum. Perhaps some day I’ll actually be smarter than the menu.

I'm pretty sure its new. I just noticed it earlier as well, so used to having main forum on the top.

Have always known function to search for chat messages on FFXI portion of forums, but not here. Plus, accidentally clicked it earlier when trying to click on "Main WoW forum..." because that's where it normally would be. Smiley: tongue

Edit: Wow...am not the only one. Smiley: lol

It's a new link, but not a new feature. It's always been under the filter settings at the top of the page as [Search Forums]. Smiley: smile

Oh, and I've clicked that link several times today as well...

You mean you all don't have your bookmark set directly to the Main WoW Forums? Smiley: tongue

It's new in that position, I've clicked a couple times on accident not paying attention.

Nope Vataro, I like to read the news and the TFTD.

I've missclicked it at least 5-7 times today, it's very annoying.

Pretty bad place to.. place it.

Been clicking it accidentally all day. Goes to show how much I've been posting here. I navigate the menu without looking at it.

And Vataro, I have the WoW Main Forum on my Firefox quick-bookmarked-super-easy-to-click-bar.

Agreed, not sure who added it there. (given the relatively low import of the forums on the wow site, I'm not sure why we're dedicating 10 slots on the menu to them)

This might be a bad place to ask this question but I was a bit boggled when I first visited the site as to why searching the forum is a premium only feature. I understand and appreciate that most of the questions one would ask in the beginning is answered in the FAQ and the quest search function is free and very easy to use, but why would one need to pay for forum searches? Wouldn't it cut down on forum spam (granted the poster was smart enough to use it) if we were all able to search the forums for answers to our questions?

As a side note, and I apologize as I posted this before looking it up, but I haven't checked into prices of premium as of yet as money is tight. So this might be trivial, I was just wondering what the reasoning was behind pay-to-search forums?

Their is a lot more to premium then forum searches. Basically, premium allows you to do things the easy way instead of having to dig through tons of info. Not only the forums, items, quests, ect, ect.....

At one point Allas offered a lot of more stuff for free and premium was looked at as a donation to the site. Now that they have grown to the size they have, they need premium to pay for the servers and everything. Can't say I blame them to be honest. I got into a conversation with one of the admins one time and the number of hits this site gets daily is amazing.

that didn't answer the question. Why is forum search, something which if free would greatly benefit the forum (no more "can someone link me to this thread please" topics for example) be included in the things you need to pay for?

Click here to see how it all went down...

Funny how asking for a small request for a CSS change could lead to this Smiley: lol

I agree that it is in an odd place. Wouldn't it just be possible to put the "forum Search" link below the search box? Or would that be too confusing for people?

At least leave me the asylum link Smiley: motz

You want to be a curmudgeon and not add the Alt+S quickposting? Fine.

Take away my daily used links? Not so fine.

What ever happened to the "premium only custimized sidebar" that was talked about a long while ago?

If we were content, your job would be boring. Smiley: wink2

And don't say "add a bookmark for the other sections you want"... I am at work and I can't add bookmarks, lest my websurfing is found out by the people that use this computer when I am out of the office.
