Resilence??Follow

I cant seem to find info about it anywere but some people here seems to know what it means....
WTF does it mean? Is it a spell? Is it something all classes and races will have and does your rating make you less effected by it or immune or is it like resistanse to the 5 schools of magic?

Would be very happy with a link or someone explaining with own words

It is your protection rating against critical strikes and crushing blows.

resilience: reduces the chance to recieve a critical strike AND reduces the severity of that crit (how much it hits for).

defense: increases your chance to block, dodge and parry. increases enemy chance to completely miss you. reduces the chance to receive a critical strike.
defense above level * 5 does nothing for crushing blow chance, but every point below this increases your chance to receive a crusing blow by 2%.
