Neutral Auction HousesFollow

Recently I was warned against using the neutral Auction Houses in Gadgetzan and Booty Bay, but it was unclear to me why.

Would anyone like to speak to the pros and cons of neutral Auction Houses?

Thanks.

Generaly there are higher rates for putting up an Auction and your chances of selling that auction are alot lower. So you can lose more money quicker with less chance of return.

The neutral auction houses cost a lot more to post stuff. Also, the neutral ones aren't connected to the faction based ones, so you won't find very many items in them.

The only reason I know that people people use them is to xfer stuff from one faction to another (its complicated and no I'm not explaining how to do it!).

That's about all I know about them.

on the other hand, sometimes bargains can be found on the neutral AHs. Yesterday I found six Big Iron Fishing Poles for 5G each at Booty Bay. I sold them for 18G each at the Alliance AH, except for one that I gave to a friend.

Whenever I check at the Neutral AH, I find there to be very few items (the exception being Green Hills of Stranglethorn pages). I think that if more people used it, it would be as healthy a market as the faction AHs but I just don't see that happening.

The Neutral AH is great for selling items that you can only get on one faction (or at least are only easily gotten in one faction's areas.) My Horde characters often put up the Red Firework engineering plans and the Recipe for Savory Deviate Delight on the Neutral AH because you can make a nice profit on them because Alliance players have trouble getting these items and will pay more for them than you can get on the Horde AH.

Also i think people seem to transfer items from Horde <=> Alliance on their own character (not on pvp servers) because i found Recipe: Elixer of Brute Force for 1g BO.... either that or someone didnt know what it was worth.

It's actually kind of complicated to transfer items from your own Horde to Alliance (or Ally to Horde) characters because a character can not bid on or buyout an auction created by another character on the same account.

You either need a second WoW account or a trusted friend to help you buy/sell/transfer the item to your intended character.

I dont think you can create a Horde and alliance character on the same server on the same account. So someone doing that would have to have a 2nd account in the first place.

I thought that was the point of the factions after all.

correct me if im wrong.

You can have both Horde and Alliance characters on the same account on the same server as long as the server is a PVE server.

I have three Alliance and four Horde characters on Cenarius on my account. :)

You don't need two accounts. I have an undead alt on my single account on the same server.

I hadn't thought of using the nuetral AH in this way. It would be cool to put a feather for sale with no buy out then have your main bid 100g on it for money transfer.

They probally thought of that however as the above poster said and you would not be able to bid on it without an additional account.

On a PvP server you can indeed not have characters of both factions, but on a normal server you can.

True. You can't bid on something that an alt has put up for auction.
