Whats wrong with hunters?Follow

Why does no one want hunters in their groups? I don't see what's wrong with em'. I just want to know, don't want to get violent.

They smell funny.

Seriously though, a lot of people choose hunter as their first class to play, so the class is fairly overrun with people that don't know what they're doing (poor pet control, etc.).

I just looked at the quote in your siggy, and I just came up with a stupid idea:

Sperm is a DoT.

You're right, that's a pretty stupid idea.

Anyways, like the second poster stated there are alot of Hunters out there and there are alot of Hunters that aren't very good at their class. The same can be said for any of the classes, it's just there are just so many Hunters its more apparent when it comes to them.

Add in the fact that for alot of things Hunters aren't "needed" and you're going to face an uphill battle when looking for groups. Just do what I did when I played my Hunter and make your own groups, then you never have to worry about not having a spot.

Hunters can do some pretty wicked damage, and after the patch BM specced ones are no longer the laughing stocks they once were. I have trouble keeping up with them on the meters in raids now.

oh so it just depends on how good you play?

If you're a Hunter chances are you will have to show others that you're good at your class, rather than them just assuming you are. I'm not saying it's right, just saying that's the way it is for Hunters alot of the time.

play a hunter well and people will remember you. play any class well and people will remember you. if you are a starting out hunter four things need to be remembered:

1. dismiss pets when making jumps
2. instances-keep pet on passive
3. don't pull aggro
4. please don't break CC effects, it really upsets people.

I am new to the game (playing for 5 months, still only L48) as a hunter, and i ask for and heed advice all the time. So far, i have only entered instances with good groups (luck more than judgement) but the above advice is VERY sound...

There`s nothing like the buzz generated when a pet gets aggro and holds it when a warrior is struggling!

Actually, there is lots of buzz from all sorts of situations. It`s a great game!

One other thing I will add to your list of 4 there YayItsJake.

5. Use your traps and feign to keep aggro under control!

Freeze and Frost are your friends on pulls and warriors not having to peel the mobs off the hunter while he runs around screaming "Get it off me! Get it off me!" makes the tank very happy.

Now that we can set traps during battles....

Well I think they've said it pretty well, there's a lot of hunter "noob" running around, even at high levels (since all they gotta do is put pet on attack and kite to kill almost anything). Also, most utter idiots I have come to encounter on WoW were hunters, which doesn't do much of a good job at redeeming them before my eyes.

Besides, hunters are mainly there to add Dps and that is something most other classes can do, but see this:

- Mages, make big dps, make the big AoE damage, can major CC by polymorphing and minor by freezing enemies, and hand out drink & food.
- Warlock, make big dps, can simultaneously damage several mobs, may have a pet to off-tank trash/spawn mobs, may impair the enemy with several effects, may CC demons/elementals, may hand out healthstones and Soulstone a priest to avoid a wipe. (may CC with fear if there is no chance for adds).
- Rogues, also do big dps, scout, do some CC with sap & can bascially 1on1 many enemies (dunno if anything else).
- Hunters, may do big dps, add little CC and impairing effects, may off-tank with pet a bit, can pull from afar and use traps mainly when pulling.

So as far as I'm concerned the only "pure dps" class that adds less advantages to the group as a whole than a hunter could be a rogue.

Basically, as far as 5-man's if I had a choice I'd take any other class in my party before I took a hunter or rogue :_)

I hate to admit it but that's usually the case.

Hunters are easily replaced by locks or mages. Worse, hunters can rarely use multi-shot in dungeons or for pve for that matter.

Still hunters can dps, off-tank and use pet to assist the clothie. Even when oom, hunters can still contribute with pet and autoshot.

hunters can use multi shot in pve. you just have to know when, judging by how close other mobs are... simple.

Yeah, hunters have some problems but so does other classes. Hunters do ALOT of good dmg and could take alot of dmg.

A good hunter could kill every class. For a rogue is impossible to sneak up to an hunter cuz they have track hidden and flares what could easily spot a rogue. If a mana class such as a mages, locks and pallys is easy for me as a hunte to kill cuz i use my viper sting that drains there mana and the hunters other string can pull throuh a bubble easy. If you are about to be a rly good hunter you must use every skill you got. Traps, flare, tracking, hunters mark, arcane shot, multi shot, aimed shot, slowing shots, volly and stings. Hunter can kill several enemies at one time with multi shot and volly shot!

HAPPY HUNTING !!!

the five points stated before are all very good ones.
and it was kind of hinted at,
instance=pet passive and growl off unless your pulling something off of a cloth, or off tanking. nothing is more frusterating to the main tank then trying to pull the agg off of a hunters pet. (although, if your grinding with a war, you can click on Growl to get the agg long enough for them to pop a bandage, they love it)
Your traps are a huge advantage,
if u decide to go MM, improved hunter's mark is requested more times than i can count. (at 60, it's 110 AP for everyone)
silencing shot is great for pulling casters.
BM does some crazy damage now, but make sure you keep your pet under control.
and another reason some people dont like hunters, is that we have it pretty easy in PvE, we have our own tank, small CC, DOT's, and if you can kite well, you never have to slow down for your health. I have a couple War friends that despise this among all other things. They love having my pet there to help, love the DPS i can dish out, the pulling abilities. Hate how it's so easy to grind.
