Please explain the "Tier" systemFollow

#1 Dec 31 2006 at 1:13 PM Rating: Decent
I have heard many times people talk about having tier 1 or 2 gear. I have also heard other people talk about .5 quest. I am not in a big guild and hence no one really knows what these tiers refer to. I was just wondering if someone would shed some light on these subjects, please go into as much detail as you can.

Thanks ahead of time,

Tiers gear refer to certain 8 piece (or 9) armor set in the game. Those set are level 60 and are restricted to one class.

Since all those items are level 60 and Epic, the Tier definition was put in order to quickly identify which one was more powerful or advanced. So Tier 1, then Tier2, then Tier 3, etc.

Tier 0 became the name of the pre-raid 'blue' set that can be gotten in Stratholem/Scholomance/UBRS. The name is misguiding, because they aren't level 60 and aren't class specific.

Tier .5 is what people have come to call the quest line that 'upgrades' your Tier 0 piece. Those pieces are level 60 and are also class specific.

Tier 2.5 is what some people call the 5 piece AQ40 set. It isn't a full 'tier' because it's only 5 pieces.

The "Tier" gear is what you get from endgame dungeons. For example:

Molten Core drops mostly T1, although you can get the T2 pants (T2 head comes from Ony) like Giantstalkers

Blackwing Lair drops T2, like Dragonstalker

Nax drops items to turn in for T3 gear, like Cryptstalker

T0 is the blue sets (like Beaststalker) from places like UBRS, Scholo, Strat, ect. T0.5 is a quest line to upgrade the T0 gear, and you have to actually have the T0 piece to upgrade also.

Those are the main tiers, some people have "tiers" for other things... like they may call the AQ40 set T2.5 or something. Note that the current tiers will be about on par with between level 62-65 blue items according to BC beta testers. T3 is supposed to be about a level 65 blue, and T1 like 62 blue or maybe green.
