Missing out on the Full ExperienceFollow

I might be alone here....but I feel like I'm missing out on part of the WoW experience with the new TBC expansion.

I have only been playing WoW for a few months and I was instantly addicted...My first MMORPG. I have one Character...a lvl 58 Human PvP Mage. And I was looking forward to hitting 60 then going through Dungeons and Raids to get my Gear up. But now with the PvP equipment you can get it's better than most of the dungeon sets and even when I get those they will be inferior to the gear available in TBC.

It just seems like part of the fun of getting to 60 was to be top dog for a while and all the the while getting stronger items, getting to run around on your Epic mount and have people come up and Inspect your character and marvel at the cool gear you worked so hard for.

I guess it's that I was going to be relieved at 60...not having to worry about how much exp I got from a quest and how close I was to the next lvl...I don't know how many nights I stayed up too late because I was close to leveling...but just to play the game explore and be a bad *** for a while. But now once I reach 60 I'll have a couple of weeks to enjoy it...then right back to the grind to get to 70.

Don't get me wrong i think an expansion is great for people who have a beloved 60 character that they can't really take any higher and want more out of it. it just feels like some of the dungeons and raids are pointless now seeing as how you would only go for rare drops that may still be just as rare but no where near as valuable in a couple weeks.

I've already given up on getting My last couple Magister set items, let alone trying to upgrade them. Which most of the fun of the journey is the getting there not the destination. But the destination is now pointless seeing as you'd have better use of your time going for PvP or TBC items.

Anyway....that's my rant....feel free to flame as you feel fit. ;-)

Your gear won't be out of date until the mid 60's, so the stronger your gear is now, the easier it will be to level from 60 to 70.

I feel for ya actually. It make's me think will many of the lvl 60 instances become abandoned for the lvl 70 5, 10, and 25 man instances?

Many people like myself, have never had the "opportunity" to raid extensively as well, so maybe that's a bit of comfort to ya ;) I've only stepped foot in MC twice, and into ZG a handful of times and have 20 days+ at being lvl 60 :D

Ive only had a 60 for about a month now. Started mid summer playing WoW and I had the same aspirations as you. My friends ranted and raved at the endgame raids. MC/Ony/AQ and its true, now they are potentially phased out by the 70 cap and the new instances etc. I have goals of getting Giantstalker, Dragonstalker, crypstalker... Even though it may be extremely difficult to find a PuG, I'm sure there will still be people, either for nostalga sake, they just enjoy the raid, or also want to get the equipment as a personal goal.

With the new expansion coming out: Yes there will be a ton of new content. Yes there will be new instances and raids available. I am looking at this experience as a jumpstart to getting in the same ranks as the veterans. There has been quite a controversy over the GM gear and pvp rewards being so easy. Now I have the opportunity to take leaps and bounds and be on the same level, at the same time.

That over anything else excites me to no end. I have a feeling the playing field will even out. Despite my skill, full bm gear against me vs all blues will tear me up at the same skill level. Now I have a fighting chance, and can really let my abilities shine :P

You are thinking about this the wrong way, all the people that have had 60's for months or years will be on equal footing with those of us that have just started and reached 60. Yeah they may have better gear starting at 60 but by the time we hit 70 it will be all equal, or the chance is there.

At least that's the way I'm thinking about it. No higher levels to come help, nobody that has run through an instance 10 times each on who knows how many different toons to tell us how stupid we are for doing something nobody thought to warn us newbs about.

An Example - I ran through ZF on my alt priest this past weekend, of course usually someone will say "Don't touch the graves". Well we thought everybody knew this so didn't say anything and sure enough someone touched them just as we pulled The Witch Doctor and we wiped. Now think about how many times new stuff like this will happen, surprises and such that noone has seen. I play with a close group of friends so I envision seeing lots of laughs and scares on the way to 70.

I think this was said earlier in the posting, but yeah... better Equipment means easier leveling to 70. Purples don't lose their value very easily, and the expansion is going to be made based around the ability of 60's in only a few blues to do it with out too much hardship. If you have even the first dungeon set, you're better off than most, I think.

BTW, 200th post! :D

The way (atleast I see it) is I'm not 60 yet, by the time I'm at or near I'm going to start doing BGs for SOME honor to get maybe one or two things that I think will help me level. I'm hoping by that time most higher levels will be in TBC making it easier for me (wait time wise) to do BGs and stuff. I'm hoping it won't be nearly as crowded..because I honestly probably won't be getting BC till about month after it's release. Another thing I'm hoping to rely on is people who have the honor gear now will soon get better stuff post expansion and give/sell to me ;).

Well, having been 60 for awhile, I can tell you that you are not missing out that much. The main reason for getting in a raid is to get epic gear. As much fun as some of those raids were, an equal amount can be frustrating.

And say you do want to go to MC or naxx, it will probably be so much easier at lvl70, that you could take a small raid and run it. After hitting 60, the first month or two can be "new experiences" but after that, it gets repetitive.

I wish I had that timing, so I could hit 60, pvp a little to replace any bad gear I had, and then get xpac. I feel sorry for anyone that will be starting new, and going from 1-70, that could seem like forever.

Raid Progression is fun (learning new content, beating new bosses). Old content that you've done before? Not so much... running the same bosses week after week when the thrill is long worn off? Yeah, not so much at all. *shrug*

Look at it this way: at 70 there will be new challenges, new loot, and new uber stuff to show off.

WOW is about 2 years old. A lot of people have multiple Level 60 toons already. WOW is due for an expansion. But once you hit 70, Blizz will give you enough time to enjoy it.

Don't worry about it too much.

You are definitely not alone. So many people will miss out on so much WoW has offered so many other players (no, I'm not begrudging them for anything) that they take for granted.

I have been fortunate enough to have done both MC and BWL (still nothing compared to many other raiders), but most of my rl friends have never even set foot inside MC, AQ20 or even ZG. Many players have now sworn off the raid instances, but what so many would do just to have a chance to go in and take Nef or Rag on.

Now TBC will effectively be a whole new game, with most, if not all non-TBC content obsolete.

I'd hoped, like many others that they'd rework the raid instances to more manageable sizes, but it appears they won't (understandably since it must be very difficult to rework an instance desgined for 40 into one for say, 20).

I'd love the new content, but I'd just as much love to go into all these old ones with my friends.

People go on about how TBC will everything new, but alot of people will feel like they have missed out on so much of the old, which really is a pity.

DO we know that the starting gear of TBC is going to surpass most of what's available now? And that even those of us who have little, or no raiding experience in 'old-WoW' can easily get our hands on them?

Yes, but it's not the gear that alot of people will miss, it's the experience of acquiring them. The interesting fights that so many people never get to see from just doing the 5-mans. That's the real pity.
