Well, if they do ***** it and servers start lagging they will just go back to the old system I bet. This is just a test of it afteral, mainly to see the impact of it. They also said they may have to restart the realms... so, if they do, I immagine they'll try to change whatever it was that they screwed up.

Very true. Also the game I played was run by a very small company, and blizz is better at this sort of thing than most companies from what Ive seen. I know alot of ppl complain about blizz ******** things up, but I just think those people have never played a small less known about underfunded MMO before hehe

In my asheron's call days they did some hotpatch live updates of the sorts. What I found extremely annoying was after they made a tweak to the gameplay; the intended result was completely horrid, allowed people to dupe, or any other exploit that was available.

From these situations Microsoft would have to do Rollbacks to rid of the mistakes that were made. Often times Losing a million xp, a level, a really incredible drop.

I hope this live update system does not increase the potential for a rollback, because a lot of people would have heart attacks.

Seemed to go smooth yesterday, granted I was off and on for most of the day.

The real test will come with the next patch though, and being able to apply that as a hotfix of sorts.

Maintenance is one thing, but a patch is a different monster. Time will tell if it's going to work fine for all situations or not.
