IM NEW and Cant even activate the game!Follow

I have never played World of Warcraft before, and neither has my brother but he just purchased a 60 day pre paid gamecard from my local gaming store. This is for him to use, I am writing this message because he needs help.

It tells me to create a new account, I go through the process filling out the first form, then it ask for an authentication code. There is no authentication code with the game other than a 10 day guest pass key thats printed on a peice of card. Not sure what to do, I enter the key for the guest pass and then fill out my name, email etc.

It then asks for a payment option. The instructions with the game says to select the "gamecard" option. However there is no gamecard option avaiable for me to select, only visa, delta etc. I read the FAQ on the offical WOW site and one of the questions was "I dont own a credit or debit card, how can I pay for the game" and the solution was to buy a gamecard which I have done.

How do I activate this gamecard? I am really confused! Obviously if you have a gamecard with 60 days on it, you dont need a credit/debit card. Thanks for any help

I'm pretty sure you need to give them your credit card info regardless. You don't have to use it for a payment method, but they use the CC info to verify that you are who you say you are. After the verification stuff, there should be the option to pay via the gamecard then.

I could be wrong, but I was almost certain this was the case.

First, you do have a full version of the game correct? You say you only have a 10 day guest pass, which probably wont even work with the gamecard and blizzard's system SHOULD know the difference. This could be why there is no gamecard option. You also may still need to barrow a CC from someone, it wont be billed but blizzard may require it for if you don't put in a game card before the trail runs out. That why if you don't cancel they still get money. Most games, even with gamecards, do require one for account set-up. Again, you WONT be billed until your free trial is up, and you can probably delete the CC info as soon as you put in the gamecard.

Other then that, I really don't know... have you tried asking your friend or calling blizzard? Your friend can post on the o-forums and maybe get a response from one of their reps. You could call blizzard during their normal hours (which start soon iirc) and speak to them directly about why you can't set one up.

I think this may be the problem. I think you need to use the actual CD Key which I want to say is on a disc envelope.

I think you have to put in a CC for using the trial thingy.

Could be wrong though.

What I am thinking:

If you do not have the full version of the game you are going to need to buy it (either a hard copy, or upgrade your trial on worldofwarcraft.com through the account settings) that should give you an authentication code that you can then put in there.

Oh no my brother does not even have the game, no disc was included, I just assumed he would download it like you do with games such as Half Life 2. That explains a lot of things, I will tell him he has to buy it.
