Farming honor. Is it really worth it come BC?Follow

#1 Dec 27 2006 at 8:04 PM Rating: Decent
We all know what's going on with the leech farmers in AV and what not..

Although..once BC comes out the instances/raids/arena will provide items superior to what honor points can buy you. Do you think people are just doing this atm just because there is nothing else to do till BC? I guess what I'm getting at is, do you think it's worth it to get some "fairly" upgraded gear just to go into BC and level a with a little bit less effort? I (personally) think I'm going to just go into BC and start doing quests/raids for better items (seeing as I'm not even lvl 50 yet so to do honor now is useless).

Your thoughts??

Well, if you don't raid PvP is all you really have. And because raiding has albeit died impending the TBC coming out, PvP is... all you really have.

As long as honor points are still needed, honor leeches will be around.

I'm sure Blizz will upgrade the pvp rewards at level 70. It may not be right after TBC comes out but expect the upgrade.

I'm not concerned about doing PvP (I prefer PvP) I just don't care to wait an hour to do it (hence arenas) and I don't "mind" raiding/instances. I just figured most people doing the honor farming atm are doing it just to get an "edge" in BC. In reality though (from what I hear) lots of quests/raids and what not drop better stuff *shrug* so from my point of view...I just don't see the point. You?

There are upgraded PVP rewards for level 70 that will be introduced with the next patch. If you go onto the PTR they've added new NPCs that sell them. So at the very least you can start saving now and begin purchasing level 70 epics while you level through the expansion.

Well, not everyone is buying TBC the second it comes out (I'm not) and want to do something in the mean time. The sentinel talisman is a good upgrade for my hunter (33). I don't have a 60 so I can't say anything about end-game stuff.

That's why I was wondering if it isn't worth it considering by the time you are 70 the drops on raids/instances will be better, not to mention Arena items are supposed to be on par with the best gear if not better, no?

Up to you really. Blizz just makes it easy for everyone to obtain epic gear either thru PVE (raids/instances) or PVP (bg/arena). So it's all good.

Honor leeching won't ever end. Pretty much everyone does it at one point or another. I actively farm honor, and leech AV while I am eating dinner and such. It's just good multitasking =p

On my rogue, I am farming ABs. After looking at the beta items, it seems many(maybe even most) can be replaced by lvl 60-62 blues. However, I could not find a sword equal to the HWL single handed sword before lvl 65. So I am grinding for that sword, so I am ready for BC :) Its worth it to me, and I still find AB fun :) (I only do 2-4 matches each day, so I do not get burned out)

Alliance level 60 BG issues.

20 minute queue on Arathi Basin.
25 minute queue on Warsong Gulch.
38 minute queue on Alterac Valley.

20 minutes gone by, enter Arathi Basin:

Alliance: 300 resources.
Horde: 1700 resources and all the nodes.

Premade Horde group. All wearing AQ epixx or GM/HWL gear. Two minutes later, we lose. Two minutes of PvP* after 20 minutes of queue. The good thing is that the WSG BG is ready just as I load out of AB.

Enter Warsong Gulch:

Alliance: 0/3 flags, with one on the move.
Horde: 2/3 flags, with one on the move.

Again, Horde premade with epixx coming out their asses. A moment later we drop their flag and they score, ending the match.

Scenario a.)

Alterac Valley is ready during the Warsong match. I can now decide to stick around for the one WSG mark or join AV. Usually I join AV because the honor and win is almost guaranteed.

Scenario b.)

Alterac Valley is ready just after the Warsong match.

In either case, enter Alterac Valley:

Usually the AV battles I join are just starting so people are chit-chatting in the cave.

Scenario a.)

Suddenly we notice a large chunk of players out on the battlefield before the match has even begun. They've already reached Frostwolf Graveyard and we can't exit the cave. Lag.

Scenario b.)

The Horde group decides to attack our base and lag enters. Vanndar disappears and so does Drek'Thar. A moment later, Horde wins.

Scenario c.)

We rush to the Frostwolf Graveyard, capping anything in our path while letting the Horde cap Stonehearth. We enter the Keep and kill Drek'Thar before they can get past our defenses at the bridge and kill Vanndar.

Scenario d.)

We rush to the Frostwolf Graveyard, only to realize we've got the Nostalgia Squad with us. These guys decide to defend Stonehearth, forcing the Horde to res in front of our charging group instead of behind. An hour later our charging group reaches Drek'Thar, having fought the Horde back over and over again while yelling at the Nostalgia Squad to stop acting like retards. Twenty minutes later, we win with the Horde now ressing in their cave.

Scenario b and c are the most common ones, but lately I've noticed scenario d take over. Some people want to "have fun" while others just want to grind the battleground over and over again for easy honor. Personally I'm torn between the two sides. I want the honor as much as they do, but I also want to have fun while getting it. Especially since the AV matches (and the others too) are 30-40 minutes apart.

What really sucks at the moment are the insane queues on AB and WSG. Usually they're done at the same time meaning I have to pick. Sometimes they are done right as I lose the other, which almost reminds me of the 50-59 bracket where AB/WSG matches were <1 minute apart.

*Right now there's not much PvP over it though. Bending over and receiving teh buttsecks isn't PvP. They might as well just let the Horde team win instantly if they are all from the same server (aka premade).

Oh well, hopefully it'll calm down once the expansion is released.

Oh you must be in the Vindication battlegroup like my server Smiley: boozing

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/battlegrounds/battlegroups/

There is nothing worse than logging on your Mage to play some PvP and have to wait a godly amount of time to enjoy it. If my Priest wasn't in an instant queue BG group I would quit PvP altogether. At lease the expansion of new content is due upon us soon.

queues on my server have are pretty short but anyway i find farming honor worth it because atm I hate raiding, I'm part of a group of raiding guilds and I don't like the lead guild, so between raiding and getting yelled at over vent, and having fun in PvP, I'd take PvP any day
