I got a new laptop for xmas, i installed wow and it was working fine. But now when i try to enter the game, it gives the message -

World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3D acceleration. Please make sure DirectX 9.0c is installed and you video drivers are up-to-date.

Ive installed the latest DirectX and do not know what to do now, please help...

sounds like a driver issue. I would update your video driver, and any others especially chipset if you havent already.

Once that is all set reinstall DirectX.

If that still doesn't work you can try renaming your WTF folder under WoW to WTF_OLD or more specifically the config file in there as a setting for your graphics card may just be wrong.

Do other games work ok?

You should be able to go to:
Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware tab>Windows Update

That should (IIRC) tell windows to update drivers.

I am on my work PC, so I can not access everything at the moment and am trying to pull the info from memory.

I would strongly suggest making a backup/restore point before you update the drivers. In the best case, there would be no need to do a system restore back to before changing the drivers, but there is always a chance that something will get all FUBAR.

ok here is a time for you to LEARN something about computers.

i highlighted/boled the important part of the error msg you are getting.

see if you can figure it out. FYI go to the manufactures web page and look for their driver/download/support link(s) and see what you can find.

He did say he installed the latest version of DirectX, so one would assume that it would be up-to-date, hence him asking for help.

No pun intented to anybody here, but from my little experiences with computers, if something goes wrong, error appears or anything, restart the computer once or twice, and it most of the time should fix it.
