Trading Between Characters on Same AccountFollow

#1 Dec 25 2006 at 6:06 PM Rating: Decent
I just got the game for Christmas after playing the trial for the past several days. I've been looking forward to being able to trade things between my characters but now it doesn't seem like there's a good way to do it. I've read about the email thing, but that seems costly. I want to be able to transfer materials and especially healing potions, so there would be alot of trading going on. All of my characters have different professions because I was hoping they could help support each other. For other people out there with multiple characters, how do you do it?

The mail system is fine.

30c per mail/package is far far from expensive, even at low levels.

You mentioned having different proffessions on different characters. Thats good, but only if they are gathering proffessions.

As a new player you really shouldnt be taking up any crafting proffessions.

I'm assuming that you know you can only trade from within your own faction....

Anyway, it really isn't costly. Later in the game the cost of sending one mail (36 copper) can be obtained by killing just one high level mob (with a few silver left over).

QFT. You can send mail to any character, provided they're both your own faction and (of course) on the same server.

What I find works best for me is, set up a character to be your auction house alt. They'll sit in a capitol (Ironforge, Orgrimmar, etc.) and you mail stuff you wanna sell to that alt. That way you don't have to be constantly flying back and forth just to auction off stuff. I also used Auctioneer before patch 2.0 broke it (they're working on a new version, but it's not out of beta yet).

If you're really just starting out, it's highly recommended that your main has two gathering professions. I like to do skinning and either herbalism or mining, since herb/mining both use the minimap for tracking, and it's a pain to switch back and forth all the time (and heaven forbid you're a hunter!). That way you can just sell everything you pick up and not worry about whether the nice new robe/sword/shield/whatever you just made is actually profitable. Raw materials are always in demand... :)

I have a question, I doubt it's possible but, if I am using a windower mod, would it be possible to have 2 characters on the same account online at one time. I have read some people have two sessions of WoW running at the same time, but it probably is 2 WoW accounts. I doubt if you can, but if anyone can confirm it, then it would be good to know for sure.

The reason I ask is for the same situation as the TC, I could just have both my characters in IF and trade, would be much easier than mailing stuff.

Unlike Final Fantasy XI, World of Warcraft does not take your computer over like the Borg - you can alt-tab out of it without crashing, or even run it in windowed mode from an option in the the Interface Options panel.

I know for a fact, however, that you need two accounts to do what you ask. I tried to once run WoW on both my laptop and my PC at the same time once as soon as the server detected the second attempted access, it booted both the PC client off the server and denied entry to my laptop client, essentially locking down my account until I called and got it straightened out with Blizzard.

EDIT: Grammar and spelling.

Nope. You would have to buy a second CD key to have two instances of WoW running.
