Will WoW Run on this Laptop?Follow

#1 Dec 25 2006 at 3:58 PM Rating: Decent
Right off the bat, I am not a computer expert in any sense of the words. I received this laptop for Christmas, and before I go out and actually buy another copy of WoW (I have it on my desktop), I am trying to figure out if it will indeed run on it. Thanks in advance!!!

Intel Core Duo
T2050 @ 1.6 GHz
798MHz 448 MB RAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M

If there is any more information, also, let me know as I will edit the post to include those specifications

Also, if there is something that is inadequate, please tell me, and if you are feeling helpful, pass me some advice on a low cost upgrade, thanks again!

CPU seems fine but your RAM, i think its better at 1GB
as for video, hmm... you have any idea what video ram you got?

it should run, tho dont expect uber video settings to go smoothly...

From the looks if it, it will run on what you have. But more ram will make a huge difference. My laptop is similar, same CPU speed, but different video card.

Where in Bob's green earth did you get 448Mb RAM?

Surely multiples of 256 went out years ago?

But that should run. 1Gb RAM is worth doing but with low settings you might take enuff strain off your Graphics card.

In laptops the graphics card and system normally share ram... I'll bet money that the 448 comes from a base 512 sys mem with 64 being shared/used by video card. 512-66=448

Haha probably, I really just typed what I saw under My Computer -> Properties... so the general consensus is that more RAM will be the most effective? Does normal Desktop RAM work with laptops? Or are there specific types of RAM that will work? THanks again!

Edit: Ugh, must get used to laptop keyboard!

You'll have to buy notebook ram, as it is different then desktop. However, luckily it is easy enough to find. You'd probably be best to take your laptop in as you'll want to be sure you get the right speeds and such, which is harder to determine on a laptop unless you have a good knowledge of them. Installing is still fairly simple, but, again is a bit harder imo then a desktop.

Oh, and before you buy another copy of wow, try the 10 day trial first, and see if you run into problems.

I dont know if there is one by you or not but there is cheap notebook ram at best buy right now under 80 for a gig and under 50 for 512
