Eventually I want to either Join a raiding Guild or get the small guild I am in into an alliance with a guild or group of guilds to start raiding. Would it be more practical to work on getting to the Dungeon Set 2 Upgrade or spend countless hours (probably over a LONG span) PvP'ing to work towards the field marshall set to try to get msyelf in decent gear to start raiding? Is there a better alternative to either of these options?

I have 5 of the 8 pieces in the Magister Set (3 are upgraded to Sorcerer's), and am trying to get the Boots and Pants to drop in Strat, but also have just stared PvPing heavily and also everytime I have or think I have enough time to fit in a BG before work or something. Now the Tokens are no problem... I saved em all before they switched over the system for getting the PvP gear, but getting the Honor will be time consuming.

Maybe a better route would be to just pickup the Grand Marshal weapons and finish the Dungeon Set (and upgrade to DS2?) and get some resist enchants?

any thoughts or ideas? How did you other 60's (mages especially) prepare for AQ, ZG, MC ect?

Honestly, i would say dont worry much about either. The dungeon sets will be replaced very soon in BC, and the PVP stuff wont last a whole lot longer. Unfortunately I didnt get a beta invite, but from what Ive read blues are replaced by lvl 61-62, Mc/ZG/AQ20 gear around 62-63, BWL/PVP gear at around 65-66. The only thing people have told me that they reached lvl 70 and still had a use for was naxx/T3.

If you arent raiding now its too late. Just wait the few weeks till BC is released and 95% of peoples gear will be a level playing field by around lvl 65.

I cant wait for BC! =D

^^ Totally agreed.
My pally is 54 by now, I think it will be late for me to start raiding and insted of getting my first dungeon set I simply will try get my first PvP-Rare set after I will be 60 in next couple of weeks just at least get some decent gear. So in my opinion start PvPing now, it will take faster to actually get PvP set than the dungeon one as you might notice.

Go PvP set, or wait for TBC. The epic PvP set is almost up to tier 2 standards; Sorcerer's is less than tier 1. Even the blue set is better than dungeon 2

Dungeon set 2 was such a waste of blizzards time. It isn't for softcore players at all. Anyways just go for PvP it's fun and it will net you some nice rewards plus will kill the time between now and TBC.

I think, if you're already raiding continue to do so. It is always good practice whether you get dungeon gear or not.

I'd say go with the PvP set. Its funner and 65 is higher then 62-63. Plus I heard leveling is long for non-hardcore gamers.

thanks for the Opinions everyone.

I have been playing Alterac Valley all weekend and actually was on a winning team every time. That really helped the Honor and AV tokens. Now I have to work on WSG and AB since it seems only about 1/3 to 1/4 of them are won that I play.

It's been a fun weekend though with all that AV'ing and an attempted Baron 45 Run. Get this... we made it to Baron with 45 Sec left, which was cool considering we had 2 mis-pulls and a near wipe with downtime to ressurrect, but we died at him. How Pathetic :( Being able to make it to him in the timeframe even with a few bad aggros and saves, and then dieing at him... Then we went back in just to kill him for Loot (time well expired) and Our priest actually backed out of his aura that time and we won. Sucks I was hoping to get that quest finished too.

Lookin forward to BC myself and the new items/lands
