Hello. I'm another new person asking for help.
It seems all the guides I find are either directed towards brand new players: "a dwarf is a short stout stubborn creature". Or directed toward endgame experts: "The level 60 bsg will use aoe xtt on the pld and inescrediate your xbjoekefjalsfsdha???????????"

I'm level 16 and have no idea what I'm suppost to be doing. On FFXI, by level 10 there was always a place to go where everyone grouped. You would just go where everybody else was going, and join a group.

But in wow, I've been running around and I always have the looking for groups icon thing activated, but I've never been invited. Am I supposed to be somewhere specifically (like in ffxi, i would have to be at valkurm dunes)? Or is my class not really group friendly (undead warlock)? Am I supposed to just keep running around solo doing quests for 50 more levels? Some of my quests apparantly need groups to complete, but I don't know how to get in one. At what level do most people start grouping for most of their xp?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

With the advent of the newest patch, 2.0 that is, there has been implemented a new LFG option, Ive heard that it stinks, however I wouldn't know because I havent been in a pug since the patch.

Your best bet is to look in the database here on quests and instances so you know what zones are where you need to be for your level, then go there in game and advertise in the general chat channel that you are looking for a group to complete a particular quest.

Before this patch, there was a general LFG channel, but since the patch I havent heard if its still in existence. If its still there, you may broadcast your LFG there wherever you are in azeroth.

First i would advise you to read the Forum facts sticky at the top of the page.

Once there you will find this game is extremely different than FFXI. you don't need groups to level for most of this game. All the groups you will be in are for harder quests and to get gear. As undead, you should probably be in the barrens about now, and your next instance would be Wailing caverns at abou 22-24 I beleive. Could be wrong. More or less though, you will only be grouping and running the instances listed on the LFG tool to get gear, although you can get roughly just as good gear by questing.

In WoW most of your grouping is done in instances. They're areas where your party or raid enters and no one else is allowed into your specific copy of the instance. They have storylines tied into them and are areas of elite (harder than usual) monsters leading to bosses, and eventually the main boss or bosses -- similar to Dynamis. Most of the best gear in WoW comes from instances and most instances are done in 5 man groups, but later on in levels there are 10, 20, and 40 man instances. Endgame in WoW is largely based off the 20 and 40 man instances.

The lowest level instance is Ragefire Chasm (RFC) and most players usually go there around level 15. RFC is located inside the Horde's main capital of Orgrimmar so it's pretty much Horde only.

The next two instances you can do are Deadmines (DM and sometimes called VC) and Wailing Caverns (WC). Deadmines is located in Westfall and can be done around level 20. Wailing Caverns is in the Barrens and is the Horde equivalent of Deadmines so it's also done around level 20.

I would join the queue for whichever instance corresponds with your faction when you were close to 20 and I would also go to the zone the instance is located in. Pay attention to the chat channels in the zone and sometimes groups are formed there. LFM stands for 'looking for members', LFG stands for 'looking for group', and LF1M/LF2M stands for 'looking for one more, two more etc.'

There are also some quests labeled elite which can be done by grabbing another person or two. I think I read they changed, or are going to change the label from elite to group so it might say group instead.

Unlike FFXI you can solo pretty easily to level cap so most players do a lot of soloing to 60. The grouping done between 15-60 is usually in instances and there should always be an instance close to your level. There really isn't any grouping just to kill a certain mob over and over. It's either advance through an instance or solo. Make sure to use this site, thottbot, or any other site and get all the quests you can for a particular instance before you go because they give good xp and/or rewards. Good luck.
