I logged my warrior on this morning to sends some of my other characters, on my second account, some items. This is the first time I logged this character on in days. The first mail I try to send, to one of my own characters, gives me a message that I’ve tried to send to too many unique addresses, or something like that. Then each time I try to have him send the same character mail I get the message that its an unfriendly target. How can one of my own characters be an unfriendly target?
I sent in a GM ticket but I had to log and I’ve not received an e-mail yet. Hopefully it won’t be the standard, “we are aware of this problem†reply.

They did a restart on a bunch of realms last night and everyone's having mail-sending problems.
I saw on the O boards that some people have been able to send to their alts once they logged in on those alts.
That doesn't help me though since I promised a guildie that I'd send him a couple of swords I smithed once I got the mats I was short of (that he sent me) and I haven't been able to send them and he hasn't logged back on. Of course now I'm at work and unable to get on WoW to explain things when he does get on.

Yeah, getting the same error on Stormrage. Tried to send some armor kits to my fiance, and kept getting the same error. Also, the WoW site seems to be down or something so it might be related.
same error for both my alts and other people. I have no addons running at all. havn't downloaded any since the big patch.
I was on after the restart, and had no problems with mail outs. I haven't been on today though.
Thanks for the replies. From the sounds of it Blizzard should be well aware of the problem. And if its so wide spread then I’m sure they are working on a fix.
ya had the same problem. as of around 11am est they are starting rolling restarts again
From what I hear in this thread, did you try to log in on your alt, then back on your main and mail your alt again?
The only problem I have with mail is that after picking up all my mail, the "You got mail" icon refuses to go away.
This happened to a guildie of mine last night. We were doing some late night PvP and the servers went down for the rolling restart. He tried to send mail from an alt for repairs and some other things and got the unfriendly error. So we all tried to send him a mail and got the same mesage. Quite odd.
On a related note, apparently the hotfix was to correct an error with the Rampage ability. Anyone seen the screenshots? It was described on vent as a 6 somthing million damage glancing blow on Hakkar....

Confirmed. I was playing last night, and when I tried to send stuff to my bank alt, I got an initial error message along the lines of "You've reached the in-game unique recipient limit" (not sure of the exact message), then subsequent attempts got "That target is hostile". Very weird.
I went to the O-boards bug forum and found the possible fix. Logged onto the bank alt first, then back to my main and tried again. No problem.
I seriously hope they fix this soon. It's a major pain (not just from having to log my alts first, but from the inevitable people spamming, "Wats worng wit teh malebx??!?oneeleven!?" on General chat).
It may have been fixed by now.

Maybe it's a onetime deal that they somehow accidentally unlinked all the chars from the mailbox system, and logging your char links them again.
I've had false alarms regarding mail. I see the icon, head to a mailbox and there's nothing there. Maybe the system is a bit overloaded, or maybe it could be due to lag.
Spanish servers had the same mail problem going on (before mantainance reset I couldnt send mails, it said the player's mail was full and could not accept any new mail or something such).
However after the reset for manteinance the problem seems to have been worked out, I havent seen or heard anything more about it.
