I am playing NE warrior lvl38. How do you get to scarlet monastery since it is in Horde's territory. Do I need to get a quest to get there? Sorry for such a noobish question. But I would appreciate any help.

You walk straight past the Horde Undercity ... 
Basically from Southshore walk to Dalaran and head north. Swim across the lake north of Dalaran and then you'll get dropped off right next to a big set of Ruins (the Undercity). Run east a until you hit the crossroads between the Undercity and the Zepplin Dock then heat north east until you get there.

Fly to Southshore. Head north to the words Alterac on the map. At Dolaran turn right to run along the lakeshore. When you get close to a cottage on the shore, jump in the lake and swim north. You should be able to avoid all islands/mobs in the lake. Come ashore on the left side of Lordaran and hang a right on the road. Travel east past the entrance to Lordaran until you see bad guys camped in the road and turn left through woods and head NE to the road. Go north on the road and take the right fork to SM. It is no problem at all on a pve server, although it could be an adventure on a pvp one.
Fly to Southshore in Hillsbrad Foothills.
Run north-northwest to Alterac Mountains.
Pass just east of Dalaran, to Lordamere Lake.
Swim north, until you hit Tirisfal Glades.
Find the road just west of the Undercity. (East of the Undercity is all cliffs and you won't be able to get past there.)
Run north and east to the Scarlet Monastery, avoiding the guards at Brill. Just past Brill, the road goes southeast, but there is a smaller path going northeast, to the monastery. There will be corpses hanging from trees when you get close.
Run north-northwest to Alterac Mountains.
Pass just east of Dalaran, to Lordamere Lake.
Swim north, until you hit Tirisfal Glades.
Find the road just west of the Undercity. (East of the Undercity is all cliffs and you won't be able to get past there.)
Run north and east to the Scarlet Monastery, avoiding the guards at Brill. Just past Brill, the road goes southeast, but there is a smaller path going northeast, to the monastery. There will be corpses hanging from trees when you get close.
