Least gear dependant class?Follow

#1 Dec 17 2006 at 4:13 PM Rating: Decent
Ok so I got this game about a month or 2 ago out of boredom as I had been out of MMO's for a while. I've got a lock up to lvl 30 and I'm having fun with him but I think I'm going to make an alt to play back and forth to take advantage of the rested exp. I really don't get that much time to play due to a heavy work schedule so I doubt I'll get that many opportunities to do raids. End game what do you guys think I could prosper at best with out being too gear dependent? Thinking of pvp and maybe the occasional low end raid.

Rogue, trust me on this one.

Then why do so many of them ***** about weapon scaling?

Yeah I've seen some of the naked Rogue pvp videos. Seems like it could be worth a try. Any other class ideas?

I have to say Hunter, your bow will probably be most important and your pet will do the chewing for you.

Rogues are no more gear dependant than any other class...

The MOST gear dependant would have to be warriors, all the others who knows?

I think I'll try a hunter and see if they are as easy mode as everyone else says they are. Also it might be fun to see how the play style compairs to a lock.

I played both (only in low leves) and must say that a huner compared to a lock is boring.

I agree that a hunter, other than his/her ranged weapon, could run around like Tom Cruise in Risky Business and not suffer too much for it. Good armor makes killing that much easier, but of all the classes I think hunters can survive best without it.

In terms of just leveling up, yes, a Beast Mastery hunter.

Once you're at 60 (soon to be 70,) it depends entirely on what you want to do. Hunters do wear mail armor for a reason, in spite of what this thread might indicate.

least gear dependent would be rogue.

as for the complaint about weapon scaling, that has more to do with the fanboi who has no clue how to play his class and that the scaling of weapons is not uniform. so what. a good rogue with good skills both talent tree build and knowing what the F he is doing can mess up just about any class in the game if he can get his hands on them.

as for most gear dependent i would go with pally/war for that one. neither can do their job nekkid.

rogue is the second most gear dependant only warrior is more gear dependant imho. but now with pvp rewards being so easy to get i'd say hunter or rogue are easiest to equip.

Wouldn't a mage not be very gear dependant as well? I mean you get your new spells regardless of armor or not.

I think a frost mage would be able to grind half decently naked. A wand at least would be nice though. :D

Do remember that gear dependancey is not just a bad thing.

In the case of warriors who are VERY gear dependant, it means that warrior with bad gear is gimped but it also means that a warrior in good gear is frightening.

a mage is fairly gear dependent, in that they need a heavy mana pool.

More like they are gear dependent because they need +dmg; without a hefty stack of +dmg, you hit like a wet noodle.

Rogues and hunters are the least gear dependent classes (hunters especially... it's pretty disgusting what a blue-geared hunter can do).

the only mage that could do some decent dmg without gear would be a shatter specd mage for the talented crit.

If your planing on doing a hunter i would go with beastmastery... with doing this your less gear dependent then otherwise would be.

Thing is with + dmg is really only required at latter stages of the game. Doing solo grinding and the once in a blue moon instance run you should be able to get good INT gear were the mana pool shouldnt be an issue just make sure your back up is stam.

While hunters can wear nice armor and as anyone are only optimized in PvP or raiding with really good gear.

However for just solo gringing/questing I could level faster naked on my hunter than I did on my druid or shaman. The pet is the most important factor and just make sure to get the pet powers by taming other pets. A half *** bow and good pet and you sit back and just watch the xp flow with no down time.
