Odd Post 2.0 IssueFollow

#1 Dec 17 2006 at 3:06 PM Rating: Decent
So since the 2.0 patch I've noticed something very odd and it seems to be only happening with my main.

I seem to have lost my system alert messages, things such as my personal rolls in loot situations and the alerts when a friend logs on or off. I can still here the sound when someone logs, but no message. Wierd, has anyone heard of this or experienced it?

All I'm running at the moment is CTMod, CTRA and using the default UI until I get this issue resolved. I've tried /console reloadui and it didn't help.

Any help you could give me would be great. While I'm running with my guild members I'm confident that I won't be screwed over but I'm sure I'll end up in some PuGs and would rather not rely upon their sense of right.

50 views and no help. I'll assume that there's no-one either experiencing this issue or inclined to give me their insight. It's not like the game is unplayable, just an annoying little glitch I've encountered.

Try this:

Log out of game.

Rename your WTF folder inside of c:\program\files\world of warcraft (or wherever it's installed) to WTF_Backup

Restart the game - all your action bars will be wiped, macros gone, etc. but this is temporary. See if the problem continues to exist. If the problem is cleared up, then there is a problem in your configuration somewhere and you'll need to rebuild all your action bars and everything.

If the problem isn't fixed, or you don't want to rebuild everything, exit the game, delete the newly created WTF folder and rename WTF_Backup back to WTF.

We have had other threads where people's chat settings get messed up, and chat windows disappear, etc. It happens so often with me on some characters that It is second nature for me to set it back up. I have a tendency to create 3 or 4 chat windows for different purposes. When mine gets goofed up, I do the following:

Go into interface advanced options and check simple chat and return to game (you will kind of be at a starting point). Now go back into interface options and uncheck both simple chat and Lock Chat Settings. Note that if you intend to move the general chat window, you will also need to right click on the tab "General" and unlock it.

Now right click on the General tab and explore the channels that are displayed. There are check boxes for says, yells, party, guild, combat, loot, etc. Note that there are a couple different headings where these can be found. I think one says Other Channels or something like that. Just look though all the options and select what you want displayed. You can display different type messages in different chat windows that you use or create.

I hope that helps get you back the messages you aren't seeing.
