If you do it right, the AH is going to be your God. You can sell mageweave (depending on your server) for 1 gold a stack, and it'll sell quick. Since, it usually costs 1 gold and 20 silver.

QUEST QUEST QUEST!!!

If you do your quests solo, you'll get any coin drops from anything you kill...plus and items they drop that can be sold.
Keep in mind, all WHITE items have some value to someone, so putting them up on the AH for a little cheaper than everyone else has the same thing will help to ensure that it sells faster.

You can ask higher levels to run you through instances for gear/money, ect. In SM, the graveyard doesn't drop anything really, but there is a quest you can pick up in there.

And, if you happen to be on Blackhand, I can help you out a bit.

Also, if you have a guild and someone has a level 60 or two, chances are that they have enough gold to lend you (this is what I did). But, basically, you will need like 120 gold. I know, horse/riding skill is only like 100, but you will need to buy your spells. >.> (Bank breaking level.)

Last, but not least, cloth quests. They yeild small amounts of experience but if you do the cloth quests for Undercity, it will earn you reputation and you can use that to your advantage because it will help to lower your mount price and riding skill a little bit.

:)

Hope this helps....and again, if you're on Blackhand, send me a tell and I can help you out a bit.

One of the easiest and most overlooked ways to make some coin is to take on two gathering professions. I mean sure, you might have to lose all the hard work you put into one (or both) of your professions, but having two gathering professions is probably the easiest way to get up the coin to buy your mount. I myself am a mage with Skinning and Mining. Sure, they're no use to me at all, but I sell the ore and leather in AH, along with any cloth that drops from mobs (BIG buck$!! LoL) So, if you're willing to part with your current professions (which you could always take up later again), this is probably the best way to do it.

...on a side note, I gave up Tailoring(240) to pick up mining so I can start saving for my Lvl 60 mount...

Yeah, gathering skills are also a good way. And, you can make good money without two gathering skills...

When I was level 40-ish, I had alchemy at like... 250-ish and herbalism at 255-ish. Anyways, I traveled to the hinterlands and went about picking sungrass and golden sansam. I got my herbalism up to 300 by just getting to hinterlands. I rarely did any flower-picking in the barrens area, or over on that continent(I think blindweed was the only thing). >.> Anyways, in hinterlands, you can kill trolls and pick up wildvine off them. Since wildvine is used in some alchemy potions (few) and more in tailoring, putting wildvine up on the AH can be helpful. Just, check your server prices for it, because you don't wanna understate the price, or overstate it.

Plus, selling it a few silver cheaper will help to sell it faster.

:D

...or you can haggle through the trade channel.

Don't forget Fishing. It's probably the most overlooked moneymaker as it's not exciting but its yield is equal to the other gathering professions if you know how to exploit it properly.

1. Deviate fish from the oases in the Barrens. (and if you are a miner, copper and tin abound here too) If you can't cook them yourself, sell them by the stack on AH. Trust me, they go fast.

2. Ocean nodes: The fish in ocean nodes are important alchemy components, so they sell steadily on AH. (Firefin snapper can also be caught in that polluted river in Stonetalon by the Venture Co area.)

3. Freshwater nodes: Sagefish, when cooked, is a caster's buddy as it gives a mana regeneration buff when eaten. I have to look at the sales rates on AH but I would *think* that it would sell well. If nothing else, use it to boost your cooking skill and eat it yourself, some areas where you fish you'll be fighting and will need the mana boost.

4. Debris piles in the water are reasons to praise the gods. You fish up three things from those: Stranglekelp (sells well in AH as it's a component in potions popular amongst PvPers), Rumsey Rum (a stamina boost drink), and trunks. Those trunks (usually) are GOLD. You find bolts of cloth, pieces of leather, healing and mana pots, an occasional green item, and of course money in those trunks.

I know on my server wool is an inflated price (probably because so much silk is flowing around). If you were a frost mage I would suggest grinding mobs with aoe. Either/or a good spot for farming wool (if it's overpriced) is hillsbrad. Check into it. See if it's worth it.

Yes, but he's only level 37 or so.

At that level, doing an AoE probably wouldn't be the wisest choice, because you will pull multiple guys, and he's probably not high enough (level wise) to take more than 2 at a time...even being a mage as he is.

(2 because you can sheep one and take the other down before breaking the sheep.)

he should obviously respec to an AoE build, but I was frost grinding from around 32 on up to about the mid 40s. I dropped that though for a more dps-based frost build and love it.

To go back to your question about how to make money for you mount here are a couple of things that I did:

Had a DE alt (sadly they are not quite as effective right now as auctioneer/enchantrix do not work properly yet and that the patch made you have to level enchanting to 225 in order to DE lvl 60 items)

Sold a lot of mageweave bags

Sold a lot of skinning mats (I was a tailor/skinner in case you couldn't tell)

Made more than enough money and by the time I hit 60 I almost had enough for my epic mount (which I got within a week of hitting 60).

The only problem with him respeccing is that it'll cost him more money that he'll have to earn back. Plus, he can take those guys two at a time...and the AH will become his friend.
