But the channel is constantly telling me who is entering and leaving said channel.

Very annoying.

Is there any way to turn this off?

There should be something to turn it on/off in the chat or interface options. Look for something like announcements or something. Type /chat help (or is it 1 word.. I can't remember) and read through that.

/chat gives you all the options you can do.

But you have to have admin to do it.

Are server did the same about a week before the update but people have slowly stopped using in because there has been a explosion in our servers population so there are now peopl to talk to in each zone, but while it was really big I got mod privlages it's really nice cause you can kick all the idiots of.

I believe you can use the /ann (announcements) command, but not sure what to type. Someone mentioned it last week.
Edit: Ah, found it:

/join LookingForGroup

Really, there's no reason why you can't. Try it. Chances are high there's already people in it. Just spread the word and get more people in it. On my server it's so crowded I had to look for the command not to notify when people join/leave that channel. It's:

/ann LookingForGroup

Really have NP finding a group when using the tool and the channel together. I usually advise people that used the tool to also join the channel.

Rate up for the effort, but I've already tried that command line.

I have to be moderator in order to use it.

If those servers don't, then start one.

You can look who's the moderator of a channel with /chatlist LookingForGroup (or /chatlist #).

The guy with the @ or * next to his name can give the command. Usually they don't know about it. Just send them a whisper to use the /ann command. Most of the time the channel remains in existence until maintenance day on my server, so I only have to do this once a week.

Someone on my server made it then password protected it so everyone had to use the interface tool. lol good thing IMO.

Kinda off topic... but our server also made its own LFG channel and some bright spark decided to enable moderation which you cant speak in the channel with out permission...consequently noone was able to use the channel.

Fortunately I managed to get the curent channel owner to xfer ownership to me and I was able to toggle moderation off. But the channel is open to abuse as thsi example has shown.

Yes, abusement is possible. I think we'll stop seeing that after a couple of weeks, though. But the channel gets reset when nobody's in (ie, every maintenance day), so any passwords and stuff will be gone. Unfortunately, the notification will be back as well.

Kinda stupid the notification option ain't local.

I miss the LFG channel. It kept me company while played those add hours where no one I knew was on. Gonna have to see if my server made one as well.
