I was a lv.70 paladin.

Give up FFXI, it's not worth it! Trust me.

I'm actually having fun in WoW, I'm not working, I'm having FUN!! You know, that thing FFXI always promises it will deliver on later?

Just try WoW and you'll see.

Welcome to the WoW main forums- congratulations on making the switch.

Please forgive my fellow posters- we tend to see this a lot, and it is in the FAQ for that reason. However, you have a grand total of three posts, so you may not be a forum regular, and may not have known to look there. It's always a good idea to check the FAQ and stickied posts before asking questions on forums. Smiley: wink2

You can check my usual response to FFXI converts here.

For testimonials from former FFXI players who converted, click here.

This page is a little dated, but should give you an idea about endgame content.

ffxi is a FANTASITIC game, take it from me, 75thf, 75blm, 75brd, etc...

but it's just not worth the time it takes to play.

You literally need hours & hours to achieve simple, menial quests. The only fun part of the game is exping, but what the hell kind of game is that.

It takes hours to do EVERYTHING in the game. If you're a crafter, muling takes hours & hours because of all the time sinks SE puts into the game.

It's just not worth playing a game that is so laden with time sinks.

Wow is just as fantastic as ffxi, but everything reasonable is done to remove time sinks.

eg. After 2 hours LFP, Some party member Miss the airship ? NO PROBLEM.

There is no mind numbing 20 minute wait (15 for the next airship, 2 for boarding, 3 to arrive) for the next one to arrive as in wow, airships are always a max 2 mins away, less than 1 minute flight time.

& **** muling, zonning zonning zonning zonning, that ******* game was made for PS2 users it is absolutely ****** up for PC players because those PS2 limitations havent been removed.

Wow players dont know what I'm talking about ? Imagine Orgrimmar/ironforge broken into 4-5 zones that take up to a minut to load everytime you want to walk between the AH & the bank.

Seriously buddy, **** ffxi.

I played FFXI for a very long time and recently left for WoW.I do somtimes miss
my high lvl toon and the end game stuff, but in the end i remember how much i have done in that game and enjoy the freshness of somthing new.
Unlike alot of people i dont find it easy to decide wich game is better, both have good and bad points. If you have played FFXI long enough and feel like a chang WoW is alot of fun.

They're two different play styles..

One (FFXI) requires more time to be put forth, but has more of a sense of accomplishment to it.

WoW, is a bit more laid back, makes it so you can either group (instances) or solo (quests/grinding) which means you move more at your own pace and you can always get something done. I did however feel a bit less accomplished when my first toon hit 60 after just a few short months of playing, compared to the two years it took me to get my first to 75 in FFXI.

If you're more of a social player, be sure to know people when you start playing WoW makes things easier (I'm sure you have friends who quit FFXI already playing WoW..get in with them). Otherwise I find WoW to be a very unsocial game, till the mid/higher levels.

Again it's a different style of play.. Only reason I picked up WoW is because my RL changed and I no longer had the time to dedicate to FFXI.

That has always been one of my biggest complaints about WoW vs FFXI. The fact is, from 1-60 (and soon 70 I bet) is pretty much all solo. You don't HAVE to group like in FFXI, and while certain zones/quests require you to group (instances and elite quests) a good deal of people choose to just ignore these, prefering to solo (and skip it) or have a 60 "power level" them through. Because a good deal of people just ignore them, this really hurts the community of the game some.

Meh, that wears off.

For me, it was the very moment I beat Maat. It should have been my finest moment but all I felt was empty. I looked back on everything I had done to this point and it hit me.

I was doing the exact time thing I had been doing since my first trip to the dunes! Nothing had changed! All these promises of things improving were lies! All I had done by beating Maat was open the way for yet more uninteresting grinding. I'd had enough. I quit shortly after that. It wasn't easy but I knew it was the right thing.

I don't know, I usually enjoy joining groups of my level range to run instances for experience, money and loot.

Anyway, it's been over a year since I quit FFXI. I used to miss it, but I don't any more. My life is to the point where I would never be able to play FFXI... and I don't want to either.
