Help in killing a mage.Follow

#1 Dec 13 2006 at 7:14 AM Rating: Decent
As warrior what would you say to be the best course of action to take a good mage down. I came across a good mage lvl49 in WSG same lvl as me and i tried DoT 1st with hamstring, then intercept after he frost nova'd me. i tried useing fear when he is close to me to stop him casting, i just couldnt seem to bring him down.

Ive had no problems in the past with mages and i have good (all blue lvl45-49)armour part from green chest armour that gives me +24 str(reward u get for killing those 2 elite dragons in badlands) and i have the epic Kang 2haxe. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

There are just some classes that beat others. Warlocks, for the most part, are designed to tool mages. A good mage can kill a warrior without taking much damage. If you're a warrior in a BG, don't concern yourself as much with the mages, go after the classes you can kill.

The solution to frost mages is to get engineering and use the ice deflector and ice reflector. There are also flame versions, but they are very difficult to get, and then finally you can get a shadow deflector that works wonders against warlocks and priests. Yes, they are very expensive. If you have a win at all costs mentality, they will be right up your alley.

Engineering is a profession that has ways of compensating for (and overcoming) the rock/paper/scissors PvP system designed into the game. In my opinion, there is no crafting profession that offers equipment that can compare with engineering items, especially since every craftable items has a superior alternative somewhere but engineering items tend to offer unique advantages to classes lacking specific abilities from any alternate source.

Seriously before I played many Bg's I had always thought warriors who hadn't got enigneering we're like gimped. It's rained quite a lot since then but, a warrior who has engineering topped and knows how to use his items is still waaaaaaaaaaaaaay (and I do mean a big way) above one who ain't got it.

I play a mage myself, so some of my advice is pretty sound I would say. I'm a Fire mage on a PvP server, while most (if not all) the other mages are speccing Frost. After all, Frost is probably the better for PvP. So, if you want help killing a mage (who most likely is Frost spec) then get as much Frost resistance as possible. The Frost reflector made through Engineering is a great help too (I know I hate it when my spells are bounced back at me, or when they are resisted half the time). Also, if you can get your hands on anything that drains mana and frees your own movement (as you will be frozen most times), and anything that rids you of Polymorph, would be a great help to you, and a major pain in the *** to those mages. ;)

Anyhow, now 59 (and staying for a few thousand more honor) Still ref to mage, U can get a good ice reflector through engineerin, can u equip 2 or just 1?? (not reached 300skill in engineerin yet, getting there.)

Ice reflectors will share the same cool-down, so you can't use them more often by having two. Even if you could equip two, I would opt for getting some other item (maybe the shadow reflector).
