Being only level 35, I have yet to experience the whole world but I do like the Barrens. It is so wide and open so you can see what critters you have to deal with from far off. There are few places where unseen enemies can attack you from. You can climb the mountains and get wonderful views. I always look forward to getting my characters into the Barrens and its quests. I'm sure I'll eventually find a zone that I can call my favorite but I think Durotar and the Barrens will always feel like 'home' to me.
The more open an area is, the more comfortable I feel there. I really don't like questing/leveling in areas with tons of trees though they do usually look quite pretty. My NE almost died yesterday coming out of the Mushroom cave in Darkshore when we got jumped by three nagas and no matter how I moved my camera, there were tree branches or waterfall blocking my view of what was going on. I dislike fighting in tunnels or buildings for the same reasons - camera issues and line-of-sight issues.

Thats too funny, god barrens chat is terrible.
Why is it so bad in EVERY single server?
I see people saying this kind of thing all the time but I seldom see any chat while I'm in the Barrens. I see questions about where to find something/someone and people looking to group up but almost no 'chat' at all. I think the only time I have seen someone acting like an idiot in chat in the Barrens is when some ?? Alliance gets spotted in the area and thinks everyone should rush to drive them out even though this is a PVE server and the only flagged Alliance around are either raiding Crossroads or playing 'bait' for getting lowbies to flag. Still, I'd say in all of my 4 Horde characters' leveling up experiences in the Barrens, I've only seen about 4-5 instances of really annoying chat behavior.
Now if people made remarks about the Dun Morogh chat or the Elwynn Forest chat, THEN I'd understand since those two regions are the only ones where I have consistently seen people calling each other stupid names and threatening to report each other for stuff and generally acting like little kids. I couldn't wait to leave those zones.
