Blacksmiths can make single use keys to open chests in the world - they may also work on some doors, as well. They are expensive to make, however.

Especially since any chest you will encounter at level 60, or even level 50 for that matter requires an ARCANITE key. Unless you luck out and there's an epic in the chest, you don't want to be burning arcanite to open a chest.

Check the forums under website issues or errors - there is a sticky regarding proxy settings

However

I have the same flaw- lets me log in but tells me i have no char to select :(

Im not behind proxies etc and im not changing settings or wrestling for a single forum to work

Im still looking for a simpler solution but i think its one of those to do list things they need to sort

i am only a day or so into the game and i am having a hard time finding quests. maybe i am looking in all the wrong places. also the quests i do find usually are super easy and don't get me very far. i know this question is totally lame but i read the book that comes w/ it and it doesn't really go into it and also some of the info is outdated. should i just invest in one of the WOW guides?

Don't spend money on a guide. It's very easy to level in this game, you just have to read the quest descriptions and learn how to use your map. Smiley: smile

Now, to help you, I'll need some more information:

- What faction are you? Horde or Alliance?
- Where are you currently doing quests? Area name.
- What is your class and race? Rogue, Paladin, Hunter? Dwarf, Gnome, Orc?
- And finally, what level are you at the moment?

I have a fair knowledge of the various areas as I've taken more than a dozen characters past the first thirty levels and a handful past the "tough spot" where you have to run all over to get anything done.

You should be able to stay in brill untill L5 or L6 then once you hit that you just walk down the road to the next town and start getting more quests.

To find the quests, look for a NPC with a yellow exclamation point above its head.

thank you for the help. as a newbie it has been difficult to get any help during gameplay from other players-which i can understand since i am sure the highlevel players get asked tons of questions every day. i try to figure stuff out on my own but when i get stuck i am screwed having no one to consult. this board is awsome!

You should not be in Brill at level 3 at all.

Stay in Deathknell, the first town when you start as an Undead. Do all the quests there. ALL OF THEM. You should be level 5 or 6 when you are done. One of the last quests you will have to do is The Red Messenger where you are sent to kill the Scarlet messenger at the Scarlet camp just southeast of Deathknell.

This quest will take you out of Deathknell and into Brill, so make sure you finish all your other Deathknell quests first. On your way out of Deathknell you will meet a Rogue who will ask you to deliver a package to the innkeeper in Brill. Take this quest. You will also meet another person who wants you to steal some pumpkins from the nearby farm. This quest is possible to do before you visit Brill and will save you some time. However, you should be level 6 before you attempt to do it.

Once in Brill, align your hearthstone to the local inn and start retrieving quests.

Special notes:

- There is a poster hanging on the wall near the Townhall. This quest is a "WANTED" quest and involves killing a Gnoll north of Brill.

- Once you have delivered the package to the innkeeper, the Rogue who gave you the quest becomes active again and has another quest for you where you must fight him for some money. It is very easy to beat him.

- On the road from Deathknell to Brill a giant abomination patrols the area. This guy has another quest for you where you must pick up some Gloom Weed from the nearby areas. If you are a herbalist you can activate your Track Herbs ability and find them easily.

If you do all the quests in Deathknell and Brill, you will eventually get sent to Silverpine Forest and The Barrens in Orc-land. You should be level 10 when that happens.

Good luck. Smiley: smile

I was enjoying this quest soooo much

I went and fluffed it on the is it Theramore area? You find the kings guard guy after the mage boosts you up a bit

I fluffed it and died :(

Quest failed

To my horror - the alter boy is not offering me the quest again in Stormwind

Can i pick this quest up again ?? Anywhere ?

I was enjoying it :)

Karminial, who was the last quest giver you talked to about the quest? You should be able to restart the quest from there. You won't have to do all of it, just the last part where you died.

I need to check that out

I couldnt restart at the mage point but perhaps 2 steps back i havent checked that

I know i cant start at the start as I checked stormwind city

I hope its ok it must be

I failed eh ravels excavation and managed to restart that one ok even after he died :) but considering his absent mindedness and the sheer hassle he puts you through when i actually completed it I was ready to kill him myself :)

Wait, you did abandon the quest when you failed it, right? Click the quest in your log and click Abandon.

I am new. How does the PVP and PVE system work? Do both players have to consent or can anyone kill anyone? Then once I'm dead can they take everything I'll worked for other then starting stat.s?

I am familar with LoD PvP systems, and FFXI Ballista. If that helps with explaining any.

PvE Server = Player Versus Environment. If you want to fight someone of the opposite faction on that type of server you have to be flagged to PvP and so does your opponent.

PvP Server = Player Versus Player. When you are first starting out you will be in "Safe Zones". Meaning, that players from the opposing faction can not attack you unless you flag yourself for PvP. Once you hit around level 20 you will start questing/grinding in "Contested Territory". Being in these areas will automatically flag you for PvP and anyone from the opposing faction can attack you.

If/when you die from PvP, the enemy can not loot your corpse…

ok, but what about hacks? I remember back when i played LoD. Other more tech. or internet savy people would use hacks like Trigger, or map hack.

Can they cheat and steal my gold or items? Can I call a GM or someone like in FFXI. Also if they can cheat, is there I way to avoid their evil ways? Like in LoD I could stash my gold or gear in my chest.

A player can not loot your corpse. There is no hack (that I am aware of or have heard of) that can allow this. If there was, that person would get banned so fast it would make their head spin and a GM would (most likely) restore all of your items. The only storage space a player has is the bank and that only holds items. Not money.

Thanks for answering my questions and take care.

Hello!

I am not quite so new to the game, however no level 60 either but I guess that classifies me newb more then anything else.

I recently rerolled a mage, and having a god-awful time in battlegrounds. I am level 28, with 580 hit points and 2340 mana points. Ofcourse the low hit points total combined with the cloth outfit is a death sentence in any case, however I would like to know what should a mages main job in these battlegrounds should be?

Trying to stand still for a three second fireball or frostbolt is not working. Arcane missles are fine as long as the target doesn't get out of range. I suppose relying on instant casts are the best way.

Is crowd control my only option? A sheep here, and sheep there... frost nova and blink away?

Should I be gaurding the flag more then being mid-field? Do I have a chance in trying to capture the enemies flag?

Are AoE's the best way to go?

Also, keep in mind I'd like to stay in the frost talents, as I like the idea of the AoE mulitple grind farming of mobs.

Thanks in advance to those who would know better then I.

keep your distance. use sheep, frostnova and cone of cold to slow your enemies and cast from max range. try to team up with others that will help you keep enemies away from you.
on your own, you will always have a hard time.

so thank you to everyone who helped out. i did all my quests in the deathknell and am now completing quests in brill. thank god i got all that sorted. and here i was wondering why i was dying left and right. anyhoo, i now have another question. as a warlock i am relying mostly on spells for combat but everytime i use them the enemy keeps getting hits on me repeatidly. am i too close to them when i am casting? or is it just b/c of the few second delay it takes to cast it? also at what level can i start traveling to the other continents? thanks is advance. you guys are great.

If you are still having trouble restarting this quest, first make sure you have abandoned the quest. Then head back to the guard tower where the mage buffed you and see if he will appear there again for you. If not, try going to the top of the tower in Theramore. The mage should be there. I think he’s the NPC you need to speak to in order to continue the quest. If he is missing from the tower he should return before too long. He was most likely called away by someone else doing the same quest.
