Thank you. I just saw the sticky thread that mentioned it, too. Probably won't get a chance to get on then, before I have to go -cries-

Coordination > Skill > Gear

I was going to write up a big commentary on this, but really it's not necessary. For the most part, I agree with this summary.

The problem is this order isn't always accurate. I've seen quite skilled people with decent coordination get wtfpwned by a bunch of uncoordinated and questionably skilled twinks. All the planning and all the knowledge/ability can't overcome one-shot kills. This is obviously the biggest issue at the lowest levels, because of the imbalanced ability to enchant items (giving level 60 type enchants to a level 19). And for any that complain about the imbalance, the answer isn't "get better strategy", it's "twink yourself". As I've seen, level 19 gear/ench can easily overcome superior coordination and skill. At level 19, I'd even say Gear > Coordination > Skill. But that's just me - I've seen it happen too much because I really like to play low level WSG.

I think the mid levels are spot on for Comm > Skill > Gear.

At level 60, though, it seperates a bit more and it seems most folks have decent enough skill that I'd go so far to say that better Gear can overcome better Skill again, like at the lower levels. You're back to the possibilities of one/two-shotting people.

While it would be nice to always believe skill can overcome gear issues, the truth is that WoW was designed as a gear-centric game, and the only real parity comes at the middle levels where the number alteration of gear doesn't have nearly the impact on the base character stats (ac, hp, etc).

That's just my take on it. I'm trying to avoid work...

^^ I see, thanks everyone. I won't be able to play wow for a few days, but I'll keep the info in mind.

As a druid, I now have 3 sets of equipment. (casting, tanking, dps)
I use item-rack but sometimes it acts glitchy. At least I think it's glitchy.

Can I change equipment in combat? I think I read somewhere that you can't, which might explain these "glitches."

you can change weapons in both hands in combat, but none of the other slots.

Changing equipment is a recurring request by Druid posters on the Official boards. I just don't think they'll ever get it.

If druids get to do it, then everyone will want to do it.
If everyone does it, there will be anarchy!
Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies.
Rivers and seas boiling.
Forty years of darkness.
Earthquakes, volcanoes...
The Forsaken rising from the grave.
Human sacrifice.
Dogs and cats living together.
Mass hysteria.

Serious newb FFXI convert here.

1.I'm on PvE server but get challenged to duels, what's up with that? Do you really die? and suffer the equipment loss. Are there benefits to dueling so early like <level 10?

2. I made the mistake of bufing a person who was "defending an area under attack" and was put in PvP mode and died very quickly. After rez I was still in PvP and got tagged again lol. Is there a way to take yourself out of PvP once you have died on a PvE server?

No, you don't die. You fight until low on health, and then the loser goes to a knee and the fight is over. No death, no xp loss, no equipment hurtification.

Wait 5 minutes. This includes while a ghost, so if you are in a dangerous spot, just wait 5 minutes at the graveyard and ress once your flag goes away.

Hi, nice thread!

I have 3 questions:

1. Is there a way to search this thread, so that I can check without reading the whole thing whether my question has been answered?

2. Where can I find out about dual wield? Who gets it, and how? And what are the penalties? (my chars are hunter and warrior, low level)

3. Where can I learn more about WoW macro language? I have done some programming, and would like to be able to create some simple macros. Is there a command reference somewhere online?
Edit: I found this page. http://www.wowwiki.com/Most_used_macros
Quite useful. Specifically, is there a script or macro command to identify an enemy who is attacking %t? For example, my healer is being taken down, and I want to quickly identify who is attacking him. Thanks.

Thanks very much for your help.

I don't know of a way other than reading up on each class.

Hunters can train to dual wield at level 20.

Ok, so not necessarily a newb question, but it’s a new to this aspect of the game question:

I want to get Darnassus rep. What’s the best way to go about it?

Do they have turn ins?

So far, I’ve heard you can turn in runecloth, you can play AV and turn in Storm Crystals to the druids to get “Alliance” rep, which equates to 50IF rep and 10 SW/Darn/Gnomer rep. Also, getting Morrograin and turning that in.

Anything else? Or am I doomed to troll the Un’Goro crater for dirt while waiting for AV to pop?

Thanks ^.^

1. you need to subscribe to alla to be able to search.

2. rogues at 10, warriors and hunters at 20. shaman will get it with talents in bc. your base miss rate goes from 5% to 19% for dw against same level mobs.

wowwiki = win. they also have a macro language reference. you can find more basic macros at www.wowmacros.com among others.

@phelyx
the pvp turn-ins don't work anymore. runecloth and morrowgrain it is. see www.wowwiki.com/reputation for details.

oh, did i mention that wowwiki pwns? :-D

Great thread! I am a newbie lvl 13 Night Elf Druid. Long time EQ player, but I am loving this game far superior so far. A quick question, if you will, regarding weapons and armor training.

I recently acquired a mace from a quest, sought out the weapons trainer in Darnassas, and he said that someone in Ironforge trains in that catagory. Do I have to make the dangerous journey to Ironforge to get this training, or is there somewhere else I could go, or perhaps missed? Thank you for your time.

Giavanni - You are pretty much stuck making the journey to Ironforge if you want to learn the mace skill. The journey through the wetlands will be scary at the level you're at but I've seen people do it at much lower levels. If you are lucky you can find other (hopefully higher level) people who are willing to make the run with you. Basically, if you think you're going to die then just run 'naked' so your gear doesn't take damage. On the plus side though, there are lots of low level quests you can do around both Ironforge and Stormwind that will help you start building up reputation with the other races.

I made the run with a lone NE rogue at level 16 with no problems. Your experiences may vary. LoL

New to WoW and all yeah yeah, read these forums for awhile on how to play as a Warrior and a Paladin. My question is where do I find the weapon trainer for two-handed swords? I need it for my Night Elf at the moment due to this ******* Sword I found in Darkshore, 20-30 damage +2 Agi +2 Spirit which I thought would do for now until I could buy a better weapon at the AH.

I asked this before, and mabey even in this thread...

/ducks head for cover

But, I do not think I know, so I will ask. (again)
My Alt is a 29 Druid.

I was really excited by the 30 travel form, until I read about it, and it says its 40% faster than walking normal.

I assumed it was faster than that. I already have two points in feline swiftness, so while in cat form I already run at 30% faster than normal walk speed. So my question is...

At 30 I get travel form. Then do I get any farther benefit from having 2 points in feline swiftness?

Funny, that same question was asked in a group I was in the other day.

While I'm not too familiar with the druid class, travel form does give you 40% and feline swiftness gives you 30%. Only a 10% difference, but it's the difference between aspect of the cheetah and ghost wolf form.

BTW, good job to whoever is karma camping me in this very thread. Glad to see that my help is appreciated.
