Thanks much sounds fun.
How does your party know what monsters to kill and where?

find a group that needs to do the same quests as you. go there. kill stuff. done.
if they are dungeon quests, you travel to the dungeon, clear it together, do the quests and kill some bosses for extra loot. done.

I am not seeing many other players online.. why is this?

I've joined one of the RPPVP servers that was recommended but I don't see all that many people. With how popular this game is I expected to see people all the time?

Is it just because I am at the beginning of the game?

Also I'm constantly running out of room to pick up things. I've sold useless things but I still don't have any room. Where can I buy more bags?

Recommended usually means a less than full population. That said, there should still be lots of people online, but you may not see too many of em, especially if you picked a less than favored race and are leveling in their starting zone.

If you wanna see people online, do a

/who Ironforge ****If Alliance
/who Orgrimmar ****If Horde

You'll see a full "who list" at almost any time of day.

Go to any major city and ask a guard to direct you to an Auction House. You can find bags pretty cheap on them.

Yes, as long as you're still in the beginner's areas, unless this is a newish server, you won't find many people around.

Just try not to die of shock the first time you go into a capital city (unless you're a night elf... Darnassus is pretty barren as well).

As for which mobs to kill with your group, if you have a group kill mobs that have a name in Yellow or Orange. If you don't have a group, kill Green named and Yellow named mobs.

Beware, if a mob has a golden dragon framing its portrait, that means it's an elite mob and that it is alot harder than regular mobs of the same level. A Green elite can probably eat you for lunch, especially at lower levels. Kill those in groups.

is the server in your time zone? are you playing at off hours?
the newbie areas (up to level 6 or so) may be quite empty.
rp servers are generally lower population than non-rp servers.

you have a bank. around level 10 you get sent to the nearest main city. there you can ask a guard to find the bank. you can use that as storage space for items.
sell all gray items to the npc. white items you can put on the auction hause (in major cities) or use yourself. green items you can use or put on the ah.

try to find a tailor to make you bags or buy them from the ah. do not buy from a vendor. upgrade your bags when your cash situation permits. if you have 2 gathering professions, you should always have enough money.

I believe the total number of toons you can have across all servers is 40. This is 40 characters in existence, so if you delete characters they no longer count against your maximum. On a single server, the maximum number you can have is 10 toons.

Hope this helps.

Actually, the total is 50 characters.

Question about Targetting:

I'm a paladin and I'm auto-attacking a monster. I want to cast a blessing on a member of my party. I click teh button and I get the message "This spell cannot be cast on the target" or something similar, meaning I can't cast it on the monster. Is there anyway I can buff my party members without untargetting whatever I am attacking?

There are several addons that enable you to click small icons near their portrait so you don't have to change target. I used BeneCast, but since the latest patch it's been all to hell.

You can do

a) The Grind. Find a nice spot of mobs that respawn fast and drop good loot (preferably humanoids if you can't skin). They should be around your level, not higher (would gimp your damage output and thus your xp/hour).

b) Instances. Depending on your level, there should be one or two instances you can do. Instances take your attention away from xp/hour and you learn how to act in a group as well, which is useful for end-game.

Of the two I prefer B. It has a lower xp/hour rate, but you get to learn your class and there is no real reason to ding 60 if you don't know how to play your class at that level. After 60 it's either battlegrounds or raids for the rest of the time (until the expansion).

Powerleveling is only recommended for those who already know the class well. Like Calabar who has three or four Hunters. I don't think leveling another through powerleveling would hurt any group he might join later on.

And by powerleveling I'm talking about grinding/questing with maxed out xp/hour. I'm NOT talking about buying powerleveling services online.

Warlock builds are pretty well segmented. You can head over to the forum here, or check out the Warlock builds on a site like Wowwiki.com

It seems any time I want to look up build variances for my warlocks, I end up seeing the same 8-9 pop up.

Horde? Alliance?
Which race?

For Horde (orc/troll/moocow) - Barrens are still viable around 20, though you should also be getting quests to go to Stonetalon, Ashenvale and even starting into Thousand Needles.
For Horde (forsaken) - You will be finishing up Silverpine Forest and heading to Tarren Mill / Hillsbrad Foothills

For Alliance (dwarf/gnome) - Loch Modan, then head to Wetlands.
For Alliance (human) - The quests from Westfall to Redridge to Duskwood will carry you from the teens through to about 30.
For Alliance (night elf) - Ashenvale

None of those zones are too far from primary cities. Obviously, you can be a night elf and go do human-centric zones & quests, you'll just have to make your way to Stormwind. If you're an orc that likes the Forsaken lands, then just make your way to Undercity, down to Silverpine and over to Hillsbrad. The flight from Tarren Mills to Undercity isn't too bad when you need to go train.

Yeah, here's one way to do it without mods. While you're targeting and auto-attacking a mob, use the mouse and click the skill on your hotbar. That'll change your cursor to a little hand thingy, and from there just click on the target you want blessed.

A little more generalized but, this table here will give you a good idea of the level ranges of specific zones. You can always see where each zone is at by viewing the map ('m') and zooming out.

Simple and probably stupid question..

I saw a real player who's name was in green not purple. How come?
#246 Oct 31 2006 at 11:30 AM Rating: Decent
That means his PvP flag is turned on for whatever reason, meaning that anyone on the opposing faction can attack him.
#247 Oct 31 2006 at 11:31 AM Rating: Decent
The green-named person was an ally flagged for PvP, which means they can attack and be attacked by other flagged people.

If you saw a yellow name, it means he/she (an enemy) is flagged, but you are not.

If you saw a red name, it means they (enemy) are flagged, and you are also flagged. FIGHT ON!

How do I switch switch to Europe servers? My friend told me but I forgot he said I had to open some file in notepad and type in Eu.com or something replacing the US.COM

or along the lines of that to play on Europe servers.

#1. How do I do this?

#2. Is it breaking the rules? If it is then please don't tell me.
#249 Oct 31 2006 at 1:11 PM Rating: Decent
If you purchases a EU version of the game you can only play on EU servers; likewise, if you buy a US version of the game you can only play on US servers.

As far as I know, you cannot switch between the two....

I might be wrong though, need someone to confirm this.

For people who want to switch from US/EU to EU/US servers:

You need a US/EU version of the game. (Amazon.com/Amazon.co.uk)
You need a US/EU address. (The address of a US/EU hotel will do)
You need a US/EU phone number. (The phone number of a US/EU hotel will do)
You need a US/EU credit card.*

*Unless you use prepaid gamecards, in which case you need US/EU gamecards. (Amazon.com/Amazon.co.uk)

You can't just change the realm.wtf file. It doesn't work.

Not a newb question (since I’ve played a while) but a new thing to me:

Endgame

When you are a brandie spanken new 60, where do you go from there? Quest for gold? Which realm first? What are the lower level raids/instances? What’s the progression? I mean I see UBRS/LBRS/NAXX/AQ20-40-60-8000 flashed about all the time in LFG, but what is the baby 60 raid and what’s the “You need X type of gear to even hope you make it out with your left pinky intact.”

Thanks!
