Going AFK and letting an aggressive pet do the leveling for you is a bannable offense too?
Pets don't claim for you, you personally have to tag me mob.
I'm a level 44 beast-spec hunter and I can see how some folks might get that misconception. Here's how it works.
Put your pet into aggressive mode - it will attack red mobs on sight. Or put it into defensive mode, and your pet will attack anything (whether it be a mob, player, or NPC) that attacks you or your pet.
If you don't help your pet kill them, you get no exp from the kill, and you can't loot the corpses. I suspect your pet still gains EXP, but it will level faster than you anyways, so there's no point to this. Haven't tried it, so I can't say definitely yes or no. Also, if the mobs are close to your pet's level, your pet will probably die without your assistance.
At any rate, in a crowded area, your pet's HP regeneration won't be high enough to sustain a lengthy killing spree. Mend Pet could be put on auto somehow, but distance and your mana regeneration then becomes a factor, and you also take hate away after you Mend Pet enough times. There's no real way you could do it.
So. It's utterly pointless to let your pet run around killing things while you're AFK. I can't see why they'd ban you for it, but they might. I also can't see why anyone would actually do it.
