Lost my character's underpants (really)Follow

Having read over this thread cover to cover, I've noticed something...

There seems to be an unconscious trend towards *1* final Compilation. Which is fine. However that doesn't really take differing tastes into account - at least it's not looking to do so.

What there probably should be are *2* in the end (well boiled down to at least 2 I should say) The simplest division I can see here being -well unless blizzard tomorrow doubles the skin count for all the races [ie 00-20 instead of just 0-9] as a slight nod towards this practice- Shaven And Not. Currently not seems to be winning on the compilation front with some hoops and t&e needed for those wishing for shaven. Huh... kinda like in life :D

Anyway as one who is on the look out for "Type 3s" of BOTH, just thought I might toss this up. [Why? Well I'm a DNDer and of the hairless Elf (and by extention Troll) mindset. So I'll be mixing and matching a bit as it stands anyway.]

Just my lame 2 copper (they got run over... don't stack so well)

Someone suggested changing the undead from the rotten corpses they are to kick-*** sexy undead like Sylvanus the dark ranger and Arthas the death knight. Do you guys think this is possible? Because I would love it to be made.

I agree with this.

wut..... u'r crazy =P i can do the same thing with armor. Like I said the only thing with armor is that you have to manually place the proper graphic made for your skin color in the right path within the Item folder, and must name it to correspond with the the piece of armor you want it to take place of. It's not as convenient as having tranparency within the blp but it's the same end result and is not much of an added effort. Transparency would no doubt be better though.

TomPaxton's Nude Orc Female Patch
---------------------------------

I finished up my Orc Female patch (Type 2), and here it is:
http://rapidshare.de/files/3888063/TomPaxton_NudeOrcFemale_1.zip.html

Here's a preview:
http://www.geocities.com/trollpaxton/TomPaxton_NudeOrcFemale_1.jpg

I have no plans to make either this or the troll Type 3 as, well, it works fine on my system. :P

P.S. The 00 skin has a very slightly augmented asscrack, though its doubtful anyone would have noticed had I not mentioned it. I'd like to see more *** modifications in these mods in general, but the models don't always cooperate: the troll model's UVs, for instance, do insane things and hence there is no remotely easy way to draw in a crack.

P.P.S. The variations between the skins in my troll patch weren't intentional, but I wound up liking the variations, too. There are slight variations in the orc skins (because each one is drawn by hand, no cut-and-paste), but not nearly as much as the troll skins.

ook, actualy making enough progress to be able to say I'm making a blp2->bmp and vice versa that will work for alpha. I know bitmap 'doesn't support alpha', but there IS a 32 bit format (aka alpha) bmp and if that doesn't work, I'll just have it spit out a seperate alpha grayscale that you can put in on another layer and edit in photshop or any program.

Not sure exactly how it's going to work, because I just barely (as in five minutes ago) got it to actualy show something, it wasn't the image, but you could tell it was close.

If anyone cares, the problem was it wasn't reading in everything, didn't know why for ever. Found out it was thinking the file was shorter then it was, so I had to trick the functions into thinking there was still things there. >.<

But I see something, and may have blp2->bmp working entirely before I go to bed. If so, I could have a working (albeit very limited) converter 'finished' tomorow. :D So huzzah for two day delays. ^.^

Oops wrote in german... again:

Mhh with this programm i can only see the models for helmet, shoulders, weapon, shield... there is no model for armor, legs, shoes, cape.. only textures ! How can that be ? o0

There has to be models for them or not? And if there really aren't any for them, how can i for example change my legs?

There should be some models for certain shoes, but it is correct that there are no models for chest, legs, and arms. Only textures because there's no need to have models for them. The armor just fits that tight. o.O I think most of the models for armor are stored within the character models, including capes, but I haven't messed around much with models, so others would know better.

You change your legs simply by switching the textures (all of them, good luck tracking them down. >.<) of the armor your character is wearing with the desired armor. At least, that 'should' do it. ~.^

We have a fully working BLP2 to BMP converter (MyWarCraftStudio, if the BLP's are put into an MPQ). We don't have a fully working anything-to-BLP2 converter, and from something I read (documentation of a converter, maybe?), I think the reason for that is that the BLP2 transparency layer compression wasn't fully mastered. A known rule is that decrypting (simply verifying that CRC's match, or possibly getting away with ignoring them entirely) is easier than encrypting (where you must know the algorithm and make the CRC's match). Good luck.

Yea, I know about exporting from the prog. The main reason for making one myself are two: 1. if I get to know the ins and outs, I'll be able to whizz through an encoder (properly, to keep alpha) and 2. To control the kind of input (I know editing would be too easy to change it, but making a decoder too cuts out a lot of unknowns if it doesn't work in the end) the encoder will take.

It's been so troublesome. I've played around and changed things that really shouldn't make a difference at all (as in, if it's how it says it is, it SHOULD be reading the exact same stuff) yet it makes a difference. I've already worked through several oddities (one being how the color was stored in the file, for some EXTREMELY weird reason, I have to write it in G,R,A,B [lol] order) and keep running into them. Now I'm dealing with it actualy giving me the proper colors, AND most of the image, it's just offsetting it in the bmp so it's all messed up.

I could give a lot more in depth feedback and things on how it's coming, but I'm sure 99% of you guys don't even care about what I'm saying right now. :P So I'll leave it at that: Small progress for the day. -.- (oh, I played a lot of Dungeon Siege today, I gotta' un-wind some how. <.< >.>)

Ah, got an idea for what's causing this shtuff. Back to programming I go!!

edit: rofl, the messing up was coming from me not removing some testing code I put in before. >.> Now it's just darker for some reason. -.-;

Edit 2: Curse me! The colors weren't off, it was shifted due to me writing too much. It's correct now, b,g,r,a. It works perfectly for non-alpha blp's, but it gives some messed up results with blp's with alpha... *sigh* this might take a while.

I downloaded the mywarcraftstudio.rar file, and when I try to open it, microsoft excel loads and a page loads with a bunch of strange symbols and such. What am I doing wrong? Also read that I needed WoW client data or something like that, is that what Im missing? Thanks for any help!

You don't have a program to open rar files. They're kind of like zip files. There's a rather nice, free program I've found that you can get from http://www.ultimatezip.com/ called UltimateZip. It opens every compressed file type I know of. Download and install that, then you should be able to open mywarcraftstudio.rar using that.

Quite welcome. Good luck, and let me know if you have any other trouble with it.

Hmmm, ultimatezip came out as .exe and requires an application to launch it. Most likely cause I'm on a mac(hey, it was recommended for my major :P), any suggestions? Thanks again!

Oh, a Mac user. That's a different story, then.

A quick search pops up with http://unrarx.sourceforge.net/ so try that. If not, use Google. Google knows everything, you just need to know how to ask.

If the person cannot run UltimateZip.Exe, then even if the file is successfully unrar'ed using Mac software, what are the chances that MyWarCraftStudio.exe will work?

Oh yeah, duh.

Well, the patches themselves will still work, at least. I've got a Mac friend who tried them.

The majority of Mac users barely know what programming is, and many programmers refuse to touch a Mac, let alone coding for it. Programmer Mac users are a very rare breed, and hence, you guys kinda get screwed when it comes to things like this.
